These 5 Swim Brands Are the Secret Weapons of Every French Woman

I spent an entire week researching swimwear trends, and I am now obsessed with the entire category. While I had fun finding out the swimsuits that are going to be big next—and shopping for them—I decided I wanted to spend more time with the classics. You know, those swimsuits that aren’t going anywhere. When it comes to anything timeless, I know exactly who to turn to: the French.

French swimwear brands aren’t easy to come by, but the ones that are out there are pretty damn good. One of my latest fantasies is to spend a summer hopping from yacht to yacht in the South of France. Whether or not I achieve that dream anytime soon, I’m still going to make myself feel like it’s happening by shopping these French brands that European women swear by. This American is officially on board.

Elevated, chic and timeless, Eres is everything we associate with French style. The brand designs its pieces with functionality in mind, so if you are a water-sport type of person, you’ll definitely be into this.

A swimsuit so good, Eres created it in 11 colours!

I would also wear this as a top with linen trousers.

Sunny swimwear gets a yes from me.

You could easily mix and match these with different tops.

Is sustainable yet stylish swim is on your shopping list, look no further than Nénés Paris. Made from recycled, upcycled and organic materials, the timeless designs are made to stick around beyond your current holiday plans. Gingham, florals and attention-to-details bikinis and one-pieces have gained my attention.  Experts in lingerie, too, expect to find Parisian lace styles you’ll also want to add to your underwear drawer.

This subtle sun print is just so very chic.

Triangle styles are back, and I have my eye on this pretty gingham number.

You can choose between two different bottoms, but I love this high-waisted style.

This could-be-vintage ditsy floral swimsuit made from recycled materials has my heart.

You can always find unique and elevated pieces in a French woman’s closet, and this brand brings just that. The designer herself tests every swimsuit both dry and wet to make sure it’s up to her standards, which must be quite high because every piece is outstanding. No doubt everyone will ask where you got these standout swim styles from!

This is very Carrie Bradshaw.

Confirming the swim skirt is a thing, this sequin set is a winner.

Mermaidcore isn’t going anywhere, and this set is an influencer favourite.

Yep, all things pink is still key.

This brand is as French as it gets. Welcome to that boutique in Paris that you had so much fun shopping at but couldn’t find its pieces ever again. It’s direct-to-consumer, so basically, it’s unlikely you’ll accidentally be matching your friend.

Such a classic silhouette you’ll love for years to come.

Big fan of this cute cup shape.

Candy colours are a summer hero.

A square neckline is so flattering.

And for the high-fashion take, we turn to Isabel Marant. The designer has been wowing us with her runway shows for years now, never failing to turn heads. Her swimwear collection does just the same.

I would wear this with denim for sunset drinks on vacay.

Try it out with a block cobalt bikini top, too.

The type of detail you would expect from a designer buy.

You can’t beat a classic black swimsuit.
