Seriously, My Lips Have Never Looked So Good—This Product Is Worth the Hype

As a Junior Beauty Editor, I am lucky enough to try a lot of different hair, makeup and skincare products on a daily basis, and every now and again I come across something so good that I question how I ever lived without it. This month, it’s the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.

I have no doubt that you’ve already heard of this trending lip balm. In fact, it’s become a bit of a cult beauty product over the years, claiming to remove dead skin cells from the lips and leave them feeling intensely hydrated. However, as someone who has always suffered with dry, chapped lips, I was reluctant to give it a go, as I was yet to find a product that actually helped.

I’ve tried my fair share of lip balms, lip oils and even lip exfoliators, but nothing has truly stood out to me. However, after the Laneige product landed on my desk, I was intrigued by the idea of an overnight mask for your lips. Not only that, but I was drawn in by the delicious range of flavours (think berry, mango, chocolate and vanilla, to name a few). So, I decided to give it a go, and I’m so glad that I did. First things first, let’s talk about the packaging. The lip balm comes in a round pot, which isn’t always my preferred choice as it’s a little bit clunky to carry around and I don’t always like using my finger to apply the product. However, after opening it up, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it comes with a small spatula to help apply the balm onto the lips.

I opted for the mango flavour, which has a fresh, fruity scent. The brand recommends applying a generous amount at night and leaving the product on as you sleep so that you wake up with soft, nourished lips. The formula includes antioxidants to help remove dead skin, alongside vitamin C and coconut oil to help protect and hydrate. When applying it for the first time, I was immediately impressed by the texture of the product. It felt really nourishing yet super lightweight on the skin, and it didn’t leave that dreaded sticky residue. It also added a nice sheen to the lips which is always an added bonus.

My lips already appeared hydrated and plump upon application, but I was keen to see how they would feel the next morning. After waking up and going to look in the mirror, I was so impressed by how soft they looked and felt. There wasn’t any dry skin in sight, which is really rare for me.

In fact, I was so impressed that I decided to reapply it that morning and wear it as my chosen lip product for the day, and it kept my lips feeling nourished for hours. A couple of my friends asked what lip gloss I was wearing, and they were shocked to find out that it was actually a lip mask.

I’ve now been using the product for almost a month, and I am still blown away by the results. Although I am often opposed to buying things just because they are overly hyped up on social media, I have to stay that the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask really does live up to expectations. I’ve barely made an indent on the pot, so I know that the product is going to last me the long run, which helps to justify the slightly higher price point. All in all, I couldn’t recommend it enough, so keep on scrolling to shop…

This lip balm by Summer Fridays is one of those products that I always keep in my handbag. Not only does it look chic, but it’s hydrating on the lips and adds a subtle sheen.

If you want a glossy look without that sticky feeling, you can’t go wrong with the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil. I love the clear colour as I can wear it alone or over lipstick.

This Fresh lip balm is one of the best stick balms I have ever tried, and I’ve even got my friends and family onto it.

Another lip oil that I love is this honey-infused formula by Gisou. I mean, just look at that packaging? Stunning.
