I Only Wore Citizens of Humanity Jeans for a Week—These Are the Best Styles

As I currently watch the first snowflakes hit New York City streets, it has become evidently clear to me that sweater-and-jeans season has fully taken over most of our wardrobes. For the next few months, it will be pretty rare for you to catch me in anything but a good pair of jeans. I’ve learned to wear the versatile wardrobe staple in so many ways that whether my winter plans include a Netflix binge–themed hibernation or warming myself up on the dance floor of my favorite bar, a good pair of jeans will always be my plus-one.

In the spirit of prepping my wardrobe for ultimate warmth and comfort, I knew it was time for a few new pairs of jeans to round out my collection. I am quite the jeans snob, yet Citizens of Humanity has always been able to make me happy. The quality of its denim is unmatched, and its styles are always timeless. Let’s be honest—no matter how skilled you are at shopping, buying jeans online presents a challenge. I couldn’t tell simply by online photos which pair is the cream of the crop, so I decided to try on every pair so you don’t have to.

It was tough to sort through such a wide assortment of denim, but keeping in mind current trends and our mutual desire for a comfort-first wardrobe, I’ve narrowed things down to the five pairs of jeans that you have to try. Among my roundup of the best Citizens of Humanity jeans, you’ll find a replacement for the skinny jeans I know many of you are missing so dearly, trendy jeans that will add some excitement to your wardrobe, and everyday pairs you’ll never want to take off. Now that I’ve tried them all, I’ll be adding a few additional washes to my collection, so shop along with me!

The Charlotte Straight Jeans instantly became one of my favorite Citizens of Humanity pair. They really deliver everything I look for in a daily pair of jeans: a high waist, straight leg, and just the right amount of stretch. And whoever said no to white after Labor Day doesn’t have me convinced. I’ll be wearing my winter whites throughout this season.

A crisp white wash always does it for me.

When a bodysuit and a plain white tee fall in love, this is the beautiful end result.

This button-up shirt has just the right amount of slouch.

Ordering a new pair of blue jeans just guarantees that you’ll get a million wears out of your purchase.

In winter, there’s just something about black jeans.

The slight distress at the hem is so good.

If a pair of jeans could have RBF, this one most certainly does—in all the right ways. The IDGAF attitude that this pair of jeans carries gives off an effortless vibe. I’d wear this look to the type of dinner that turns into a party. Having these jeans as the hero piece made me feel instantly cool.

Asymmetrical rips are the denim approach to avant-garde.

The knit fabric on this bodysuit will keep you warm.

I’m obsessed with colorful lenses right now.

If you’re not a fan of rips, try the same style as mine with just a minor tear on the side.

This smoky-gray color brings on that grunge factor.

Size down if you want your pair to be slightly less baggy as seen here.

You know I couldn’t write a roundup of the best jeans without including a trendy pair. The ’80s are back, and we’ve been talking about stirrup pants for quite some time now. They’re certainly still having their moment. While my Citizens of Humanity jeans tend to fit true to size, I would suggest going a size up in this pair if you’re on the fence.

These look so good when paired with the right pair of pumps.

I’m all about statement outerwear, and this jacket is perfect.

This shirt is so good for layering. I just can’t stop trying it with different items.

These pants really just said, “legs for days.”

For daytime, test-drive my pair in blue.

If you’re looking for a way to make leggings feel fancy, just try this pair.

I live in knee-high boots this time of year, so a pair of bootcut jeans will get a lot of wear for me. The way a pair of boots looks peeking out from under them is so chic. I also love to wear them with loafers or sneakers, depending on my mood. The flare at the hem elongates the legs, making me look my best.

I’m still not over how comfortable these are.

Believe it or not, this aquamarine color scheme looks even cooler in person.

I live in the white version of this tee, and it might be time to stock up on other colors.

The ’70s revival is a real thing, and this dark wash and subtle flare take me back.

This is the shade of blue that matches every top in my closet.

Okay, and now I’m convinced I need every single wash.

To my friends who are still mourning the death of their skinny jeans, you can kiss your tears goodbye. These slim jeans are the perfect replacement that is both on-trend and surprisingly more flattering than traditional skinny jeans. I’m obsessed with how they look paired with my favorite pumps. If you’re in between sizes here, just know that I sized down and loved the fit.

This pair felt like the perfect fit.

This bag was love at first sight for me.

There’s no such thing as having too many cardigans.

Try out the ripped pair to really dive into the style.

I love the way that nearly black denim looks with the right sweater.

Wearing these now with a chunky white sweater and hopefully on a beach someday with a bikini soon.
