Here’s What 11 Fashion-Forward French Girls Are Buying (and Ditching) for Spring

Did anyone else start the year with a closet cleanout? For the past few weeks, I’ve been tackling my chaotic wardrobe—re-assessing what items I love, what to keep, and what pieces I’m finally read to let go of. And of course, I’ve been making room for a few new season pieces I’m excited to get my hands on for spring.

As a francophile who loves French-girl style I was curious to see what some of my favorite French fashion girls are also yearning to buy for the new season, as well as what items they’re deciding to liberate from their closets. Not surprisingly comfort is on many people’s minds for spring along with pieces that are timeless yet fashion-forward. Keep scrolling to see what these eleven stylish French women below are buying and ditching for spring.

“For Spring I am definitely ditching high heels that I’m not wearing anymore in my closet. I’m looking forward to buying timeless and super elevated flats and sandals such as this pair from Khaite.”

“For the new season, I want to put comfort first while staying stylish so I’m ditching my skinny and tight jeans for a pair of high-waisted loose denim with elevated design details. These Agolde criss-cross high-rise wide-leg jeans are on my wishlist.”

“I’m saying goodbye to Bermuda shorts this spring. I’m obsessed with mini shorts instead like the ones seen at Chanel and Saint Laurent.”

“I am getting rid of anything uncomfortable this spring. Anything that I haven’t worn since March is leaving my closet, which includes tight dresses and pencil skirts, skinny jeans, and any heels. Instead, I am investing in long-lasting, comfy items like long stretchy dresses, comfy sweaters, good sneakers, and flats.”

“This spring I’ll be ditching the neutral sweatsuits that I’ve been wearing for months in favor of bright colors, flashy neons, and bold tie-dye.”

“This spring, and this year in general I am getting rid of everything that is not comfortable and anything I haven’t worn twice along with “trendy” fast fashion items. Instead, I’ll be investing in more up-and-coming designers and vintage. Also, as my husband and I are the same jacket size so I’ll be choosing items that we can both wear like this crazy blazer.”

“I’ll be bypassing ruffle dresses and will treat myself to this striking Mara Hoffman Lelia dress instead. It is perfect, chic, timeless—a piece that I can wear during the day with sneakers and at night with low heel mules.”

“I am very happy because I think that I’ve shopped smartly this season so I wouldn’t want to throw any pieces out of my wardrobe. For the season ahead, I am excited to wear the classic shirts from my brand, Lou Lou Studio which are new for summer. For me, they are the perfect items to mix with other statement pieces in my wardrobe. I love the fact that they are timeless and I was very picky about the fabric.”

“I no longer want trendy items that only last two or three months. Instead, I’m looking to invest in quality timeless pieces for spring from brands such as Maison Cleo, Fane, and Michel Vivien.”

“I’m all about comfort this season so I’ll be ditching my kitten heels for flat mules which I’m very into right now.”

“As we are getting closer to spring I’m eager to switch out my neutral-hued winter items for more colorful pieces. Nothing says spring quite like a pretty pastel jacket.”
