Amber Rose has cleared up some recent confusion about her personal life.
Following reports that she and “Dancing with the Stars” pro Val Chmerkovskiy had ended their five-month romance, the 33-year-old shared a red carpet kiss with ex-husband Wiz Khalifa at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys gala over the weekend.
The unexpected display of affection raised speculation that Amber and Wiz had reconciled, but Amber took to social media on Monday to set the record straight once and for all.
“I’m super sad and would like to let my supporters know what’s going on in my life,” she began, explaining on Instagram that while she and Val have indeed parted ways, that doesn’t mean Wiz is back in her life as more than a co-parent.
“Wiz and I are family and we will be family for the rest of our lives for Sebastian,” she wrote, referencing the former couple’s 4-year-old son.
“We’ve been through hell and back so a kiss on the lips for a photo and a night out of fun is not a big deal for either of us,” she continued, adding that she and the rapper are “in a great place” but “very much still divorced.”
As for Val, Amber revealed that their breakup was due to “personal reasons,” but said she has no hard feelings for “the awesome person I got to spend the last five months with.”
The “Amber Rose Show” host told her followers that she and Val “still care about each other tremendously” and “love each other’s families even more,” insisting there were no “malicious” circumstances behind the split.
“Nobody got dumped,” she wrote.
Adding, “It’s just how life works sometimes.”
Amber and Wiz tied the knot in 2013 and filed for divorce the following year. She and Val both appeared on Season 23 of “DWTS,” and took their relationship public last fall.
On Sunday, the dancer shared his support for Amber in a passionate Instagram post.
Praising the model and designer as “an amazing mother, an awesome friend” and “a loving human,” Val cited his and Amber’s “very different lives” as a reason things didn’t work out between them.
However, Val wrote that he still feels “lucky” to have gotten to know her.
“I’ll always have her back,” he concluded.
