Adult Swim has canceled its sketch series created by an alt-right comedy group, a network representative confirmed to BuzzFeed News. The representative did not respond to a question about why Million Dollar Extreme Presents: World Peace was canceled after one season, nor whether it had anything to do with the show’s hate-mongering fanbase.
BuzzFeed News’ Joe Bernstein reported in August that the trio behind the series, Sam Hyde, Charls Carroll, and Nick Rochefort (who go by Million Dollar Extreme), were affiliated with online hate groups. In mid-November, he reported that Adult Swim employees were rallying internally against the series.
Around that time, a person identifying herself as Adult Swim Senior Director of Programming Kim Manning said the show was “a source of HOT, HOT debate around the office.” Her post came shortly after comedian Brett Gelman publicly pledged to stop working with Adult Swim over the network’s treatment of women and its relationship with Million Dollar Extreme.
The news of the show’s cancellation was first reported by Splitsider.
