5 Editors on the Outfits They’re Actually Wearing Right Now

While we love to forecast popular trends and outfits months—sometimes even a year—out, we also very much understand the value in sharing what we’re actually wearing and shopping in real-time. This is especially helpful in seasons when the weather doesn’t always align with how we want to be dressing. (Spring, I’m looking at you).

Currently, we’re dipping our toes into wearing real clothes again—as in, clothes that don’t involve loungewear. Yes, that means swapping elastic waistband pants for ones with actual zippers. (Dare I say I’ve missed denim?) Some of us are even beginning to wear heels here and there. If it feels like it’s about time, then we’ve got just the styling advice for you. These five editor-curated outfits comprised of things like perfectly fitting jeans, stylish footwear, and dreamy knits from PAIGE are a great place to start.

“Slouchy trousers are one of the spring trends I simply can’t get enough of. As part of the movement toward all things upsized, looser proportions feel comfortable but decidedly more polished than sweatpants or loungewear. Add a sleek bodysuit and heels, and you have the perfect spring look.” —Kristen Nichols

“Bodysuits are the versatile, foundational wardrobe staple I always have stocked in my closet. I love that this style taps into the return of off-the-shoulder styles we’ve been seeing on the runways.”

“With a high-waist silhouette and loose fit, these relaxed trousers are the cool take on tailoring that feels very on-trend this spring.”

“A great pair of black heels are the shoe that you can wear with just about anything in your closet, including this ‘fit.”

“No matter how many things I buy, I always seem to go back to this one spring look: jeans, a tee, and some slip-on sandals. It’s simple, chic, and beyond easy.” —Anneliese Dominguez

“What closet doesn’t need a basic white tee? Dress it up, dress it down—you really can’t go wrong. This one is light and airy and perfect for the warmer weather.”

“Flare jeans have been on my radar for a minute now, so it’s time to add them to my rotation. I like that they’re super easy to style and still go with everything in my closet.”

“Spring weather can be unpredictable, so I always have a lightweight sweater on deck for backup. I love that this one can be worn over a tee or just solo.”

“I learned my lesson at the beginning of stay-at-home orders: I don’t need to buy heels right now. Instead, I’m opting for flat, easy-to-wear sandals that still feel super chic.”

“I’m one of those weirdos who does not take off her jeans to lounge on the couch after a long day (I know, I know), so my favorite pairs have actually received a lot of love over the past year. It’s been a bit chilly in Los Angeles lately, so I’m styling my go-to jeans from PAIGE with cardigans in happy spring colors and bright-white heels (yes, heels). Who knows—maybe soon I’ll get to wear them with this cute cinched cami I’ve been eyeing.” —Michaela Bushkin

“If I did the math, it’d probably show that I’ve worn cardigans just as often as T-shirts this past month. They’re just so versatile and comfortable! I was sold on this particular one because of the mauve shade and on-trend puff sleeves.”

“If I had to describe my ideal jeans it would be this pair right here. They are a straight-leg style with a high rise, which are my standard deal-breaker qualifications. Throw a raw hem and that perfect light wash that’s not too light into the mix, and I’m in heaven.”

“I, for one, am eager to slip back into a pair of heeled sandals this season. First up, this white mule style which I’ll wear with denim and dresses alike. I’m a big fan of the woven leather.”

“Dressing for spring in New York requires a level of nimbleness—you can finally put away your oversize puffer coat, but you still need to consider pieces that are warm enough to wear while dining outdoors or when the sun goes down. This look toys the line perfectly and is the ideal outfit for transitional weather—plus it is the epitome of city-chic.” —Jasmine Fox-Suliaman

“As someone who lives for statement pieces, it’s equally as important to invest in polished staples to pair with them; hence why I have my eye on this silk cami. It’s the perfect top to pair with just about anything for anytime.”

“The best thing about spring is being able to ditch my heavier coats for lighter, more fun statement-making pieces. I can’t think of a more perfect jacket than this one. It will keep me warm on those cooler spring days, and I can wear it well beyond this season because leather is a forever thing.”

“Having a pair of go-to skinny jeans is an essential part of anyone’s wardrobe, so why not make it this pair? What’s great about these jeans is that they can be worn effortlessly with knee-high boots or my favorite new spring sandals depending on the weather.”

“As anyone who lives in a colder climate can attest to, suede boots during the winter are a hard sell. But in spring, there’s no reason not to slip into a stunning pair of knee-high boots like these. They can and should be paired with all your favorite dresses and jeans.”

“I’ve always been into a good pair of trousers, so I chose this comfortable-but-sophisticated silhouette as the anchor to my outfit. While I tend to stick to a fairly neutral color palette no matter the season, I love how the ivy green hue injects a bit of life into my look, making it perfect for spring. Of course, I still styled it with pieces that fall more within my comfort zone, but there’s no denying how versatile a black sweater and ankle boots are and how chic they look all together in this ‘fit.” —Nicole Shoohed

“Sweater weather is year-round for me. I love how the slightly unexpected, but still incredibly chic, cutouts make this turtleneck more spring friendly.”

“I’m a sucker for an easy, elevated trouser like these Romy pants. Also, for my fellow petite ladies: The shorter inseam on these pants means you can wear them without needing to get them hemmed. At 5’1″, that’s always a plus for me!”

“You can never go wrong with an ankle boot. The black-croc finish and lugged sole make these ones very on-trend. I can definitely see myself wearing these boots with my favorite dresses, too—when it warms up that is.”
