We’re Fashion People and Think These 19 Things Will Be “It” Items This Season

As a group of fashion editors, it’s part of our job to sort through the market to bring you an edit of what matters in fashion. On that note, we take pride in identifying those especially standout buys that have the potential to become “It items.” You know what we’re talking about, those special finds that increase in popularity throughout the season to cement a coveted status.

Given that we’ve all been scrolling through pages and pages of new fall merchandise lately, we thought we’d each share with you three specific items that have caught our eye during our research. The things in question really do run the gamut. We’re talking everything from a pair of Ugg boots that celebs are already wearing to a designer handbag pick fashion girls are loving to an affordable knit that’s a step above the rest.

Intrigued? Wonderful. Keep scrolling to check out an accumulation of 19 items that will be standouts for the season.

“Sweater vests are the cozy fall trend that I’m suddenly seeing everyone wear. This H&M pick is a bit oversize, so the layering possibilities are pretty much endless, and at a $20 price point, who wouldn’t go for it? I think it’s only a matter of time until it sells out.”

“Speaking of knitwear, creative knits are everywhere ahead of fall, and I predict this beautiful polo-neck bodysuit will be a big hit. After all, no one does It items quite like Nanushka.”

“Another day, another lust-worthy Bottega Veneta piece. These rubber-sole stompers are the newest addition to the brand’s roster of cool footwear and seeing as chunky boots are set to be fall’s most popular boot trend, this pair is the ultimate goal.”

“Based on the fact that celebrities have already been wearing these and they started selling out on Nordstrom as soon as they appeared, these new Ugg boots are going to be everywhere.”

“I’ve lost count of how many stories I’ve put these beautiful loafers in at this point, so if they don’t become It shoes by fall, it certainly won’t be my fault.”

“The name says it all here. The styling possibilities are endless with this sweater. Who knows what the street style situation at the International fashion weeks will be later this month, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if this sweater makes a few appearances.”

“Spotted everywhere on the F/W 20 runways, chunky boots will be the must-own shoe for fall. Mark my words.”

“Jumpsuits are one of those pieces I never really dared to wear before, but I’m suddenly finding myself obsessed with them. Maybe it’s because they’re equal parts comfy and cool.”

“Thigh-high boots are officially making a major comeback, everyone. Get ready.”

“Chains are by no means something new, but this fall I’m excited about it’s grungier, edgier cousin: chokers. Specifically, chunky ones. Of all of fall’s trends, this, by far, can be the most affordable one to buy into.”

“Patchwork is a print I’m definitely warming up to (and have a feeling I won’t be the only one), but considering how bold it can be, I’m placing bets that patchwork bags and shoes will be the way most of us seamlessly adopt this trend into our wardrobes.”

“While fall may beckon in colder temperatures, I have a feeling the fall’s hottest item will be cutout pieces—in all their forms. From sweaters to two-pieces to blazers, cutouts were all over F/W 20’s runways, and I’m betting they’ll be all over your feed in the coming months.”

Leather blazers continue to trend hard, and there are a range of standout styles out there, like this gorgeous pick, specifically.

This azure shade was all over the F/W 20 runways, and I’m loving the updated take on this baguette silhouette we all know and love.

There are so many things right here—from the mid-calf length to the on-trend square toe. Beyond gorgeous.

Okay, I also had to add these boots to the mix. Mackage just released its first line of boots, and the styles (available for pre-order now) are A+. I’m loving these cozy water-resistant combat boots.

“It’s all about big collar energy this season! We’re seeing large vintage-inspired collars on tops and dresses popping up at all our favorite retailers. This affordable H&M version will look chic with high-waisted jeans.”

“Knit bra tops continue to reign supreme this season—striking the perfect balance of cozy and chic. Pair it with relaxed tailored pants (or sweatpants!) and a matching gray cardi for an Insta-worthy look.”

“I am obsessing over easy pull-on boots with chunky platform soles that were spotted all over the F/W 2020 runways. (I’m particularly loving rubber waterproof pairs!) You can guarantee they’ll be all over our feeds come fall. An investment you won’t regret.”
