We Already Know These 6 Boot Trends Will Be Huge in 2023

There are already plenty of boot trends unfolding on the fashion set right now, but the spring/summer 2023 runways are giving us insights into which specific silhouettes early adopters will be wearing next year. With many boot-wearing months upon us, I’ve been curious about which specific styles were emerging on the runways, so dove into the collections deeper to see the exact boots trends we can expect to gain steam as we look to the year ahead.

Many of the trends are echoing what we’re already seeing on the style set, including the knee-high sock boots and Western-inspired shapes that have recently been soaring in popularity recently. Other styles, such as satin boots, feel decidedly fresher and outside of the current fashion conversation. However, designers made a strong case for all of these styles, so we can expect to see them pick up soon. Here, the six boot trends that are set to be big in 2023.

Western-inspired boots have been gaining traction, most notably with Khaite’s Dallas boots that have become a cult buy in recent years. If you’re thinking of investing in a pair, you can rest assured that the trend is only growing because they were everywhere on the spring/summer 2023 runways, including Ralph Lauren’s collection.

Sock boots are fairly divisive, but I can’t ignore their comeback. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a personal fan and you can count a pair of Gia Borghini sock boots in my wardrobe. While in the past we’ve seen many variations, in 2023 it will be all about the knee-high silhouette. That being said, we can expect to see everything from open-toe thong versions as seen at Miu Miu to flat Chelsea styles as spotted at Jil Sander.

Lace-up boots were a trend overall on the spring/summer 2023 runways, but combat boot variations are the key silhouette to know. Ludovic de Saint Sernin had a pair that standout in particular, which I guarantee will be a cult buy next year.

One of the most surprising boot trends of the season? Satin boots. That is why they are one of the most noteworthy, in this editor’s opinion. We aren’t currently seeing many satin boot styles on the market, but with the endorsement of brands including Sportmax and Jil Sander, they’re set to be big.

Over the last several years, we’ve seen many interpretations of directional rain boots, including the Bottega Veneta puddle boots that rose to cult status. For 2023, rain boots have been reimagined with modern shapes, sleeker designs, and wavy soles. Practical shoes have never looked so cool.

While you could name faux animal boots as a classic, there is no ignoring their prominence on the spring/summer 2023 runways. Sleek, cool, low-key luxury, and with a touch of grit, these definitely fit into the fashion aesthetic we’re seeing take shape for next year.
