These Impeccably Designed Hotels Look 5-Star But Are Less Than $250 Per Night

Besides fashion, travel is my other true love. So when I get to combine the two, you know I’m one happy camper. For this story, I decided to highlight reasonably-priced hotels around the world that have stunningly stylish interior designs—I wouldn’t blame you if you mistook these properties for five-star hotels.

My list includes a regal Vienna hotel fit for royalty, a funky Paris enclave replete with vivid colors, a newly opened Copenhagen hot spot, a serene Provence escape, and more. Stateside, I also included a new Palm Springs hotel perfect for weekend getaways and a posh Miami destination. Scroll down to see my favorite stylish hotels and my shopping recommendations to match each vibe.

This hotel has only been open for a year, but it’s quickly become the talk of Vienna. Hotel Motto‘s charming interior design includes whimsical wallpaper, fringed lamps, serene bathrooms, and more. Rooms start at $139 per night.

The cobalt-blue velvet couch might have been what sold me on Hotel Deaux Gare, one of Paris’s newest hotels. Located in the 10th arrondissement, the property’s quirky-cool design is perfect for artistically inclined travelers. Rooms start at $163 per night.

While the island of Mallorca might get all the press these days, I’m dying to go to La Bionda on the mainland. Located an hour and a half’s drive from Barcelona in the town of Begur, this resort has impeccable reviews and even better décor. The small boutique hotel is housed in a thoroughly restored 17th-century building and prides itself on its sustainability measures. Rooms start at $148 per night.

Formerly a 1920s artists’ colony, Esmé has been lovingly renovated to the tune of $40 million. The Miami Beach hotel has a whopping five different restaurants, each as beautiful as the next, in addition to a rooftop pool. Rooms start at $250 per night.

I stayed at 25Hours Copenhagen during my last trip to Copenhagen Fashion Week and was blown away by the fun and colorful décor. There are so many different stylish pockets of the hotel to explore, including the moody, ’70s-inspired lounge room replete with vinyl records, the charming café with scrumptious pastries, and the corkboard-bedecked guest rooms with fun tiled bathrooms. Rooms start at $142 per night.

When my mom and I visited Provence in September, we drove around to all the lovely hilltop villages of the Luberon region. One of my favorite towns to visit was Lourmarin, where we spent several hours browsing all the cute shops. We stopped for lunch at Le Moulin de Lourmarin, which has an absolutely delightful patio that’s perfectly positioned for prime people-watching. With minimalist décor, the hotel offers a serene respite from tiring travel. Rooms start at $145 per night.

As a SoCal native, I can attest to the fact that Palm Springs is the absolute best weekend getaway. While I’ve stayed at several different hotels and Airbnbs over the years, I’m excited to try the city’s newest offering, Azure Sky. Houses in a 1959 property that has undergone extensive renovation, the hotel just reopened in March 2022. Rooms start at $186.
