I think it’s safe to say that we’ve already established the demise of skinny jeans over the past few years. It’s hard not to see the shift—everywhere we look, denim outfits are getting more and more relaxed and because of it, non-skinny jeans are officially becoming the go-to style for fashion people everywhere. It’s just a pattern we’ve noticed, I promise we’re not purposefully hating on skinnies (if you love them do you!).
Okay, so you’re a fashion girl and you’re not reaching for skinny jeans on the daily. Well, what are you reaching for? My prediction for the rest of 2023 and beyond? Low-rise baggy jeans. I know what you’re thinking, there’s no way in hell that low-rise jeans will become my go-to pairs, but hear me out. This new wave of low rises aren’t the tight, hip-hugging kind that have us all emotional damage from the early aughts. Instead, they’re more of a low-slung fit. In other words, relaxed jeans that just happen to be baggy enough to sit low on your hips. They’ve bubbled for a minute but 2023 is the year this style will hit its stride, and trendsetting denim brands like Agolde and Re/Done are already behind some of the standout pairs defining the trend.
