The Net-a-Porter Team Knows What’s Good: 21 Summer Finds They’re Actually Buying

Insider Shopping Cart is a monthly series where the figures behind fashion’s biggest luxury retailers break down the items they’re actually spending their money on.

If you’re into fashion, chances are Net-a-Porter is sitting within your list of most visited websites right now. What started off as an innovative merchandising concept to make designer collections more accessible, has ballooned into a global destination for the latest and greatest on the luxury front. From cutting-edge face creams and one-of-a-kind 18kt diamond earrings to straight off the runway collaborations, Net-a-Porter has whatever your champagne taste may desire. And since its inception in 2000, the company launched a series of new initiatives like The Vanguard program to help bring the freshest and brightest new talent to the masses.

Its vast selection is precisely why Net-a-Porter is one of the first places I check out whenever I’m in the process of putting together a new shopping story. The site is like holding a mirror up to fashion’s current luxury landscape of what’s new. And you can always count on seeing something new there.

Since the UK-based retailer has always been a personal favorite of mine, for the first installment of Insider Shopping Cart, I wanted to go straight to the source. I asked four Net-a-Porter insiders including Chief Buying and Merchandising Officer Lea Cranfield, Fashion Director Kay Barron, Content Director Alice Casely-Hayford, and Senior Market Editor Libby Page, what they’re currently shopping for right now. And with seasoned shopping pros like these, you know their buys are nothing short of amazing. To see the specific summer finds they have in their carts, keep scrolling below.

“During the winter months, I spend most of the season wrapped up in layers of black, but come the summer, in total contrast, I throw it off in favor of flashes of bright color and statement denim. Accessories are key, and I will live in chunky sandals and an everyday investment handbag. After all, a brilliant bag works with any look for any occasion.”

“As summer fast approaches, I’m getting excited to enliven my work wardrobe with more pops of color, whether that’s pairing tailored trousers with a vivid top or donning Christopher John Rogers’ rainbow hues. I am also embracing nostalgia; my very first designer bag as a late teen was Balenciaga. The Neo Cagole is a gorgeous throwback, sparking happy memories as well as hopefully forging lots of new ones with vacations and adventures ahead.”

“My personal style is all about classics with a twist. I love to have a wardrobe where all the pieces are interchangeable with one another, but still leave room for that element of surprise. I am always opting for pieces that with simple styling tricks can take my wardrobe somewhere new. Each of these items are new takes on the classics. For this season I’ll look to Loewe’s bomber jacket made in a luxurious leather, Giuliva Heritage’s tailored suit with a waistcoat, and lastly a heeled loafer by The Row, a back-to-school comeback in a more ladylike, refined version.”

“I love incorporating a bright mix within my wardrobe with classic investment pieces like a nice crisp white shirt or a structured blazer. I love pops of color, unusual shapes, and cuts that can be fun, while also being timeless – these pieces can be mixed up and styled again and again in fresh, new ways.”
