Target’s Fall Designer Collab is Their Best Yet, So We Tried It

When my fellow editors and I found out that Target was doing their designer collection again but for the fall season, we knew we had to do another group try on. Summer is great, but there’s something about fall in the sartorial world that tends to bring additional excitement. The colorful knits, classic coats, and cozy furs—what’s not to love? This time, Target partnered with fashion favorites like Sandy Liang, Victor Glemaud, Nili Lotan, and Rachel Comey. I’ve talked about my affection for Target aplenty on this site, and the fact of the matter is that the retailer never disappoints.

With Sandy Liang’s cool-girl staples and Victor Glemaud’s standout knits, it’s going to be hard for you to choose just one pick from this collection. Almost everything falls in the $50-and-under ballpark and is available in sizes XXS-4X. Keep scrolling to check out each of our favorite pieces from the collection and why we loved them, so you can make your shopping prospects a little bit easier. The designer collection is now available to shop in select stores and at Target.com.

“I have been a long-time fan of Victor Glemaud’s colorful knitwear, so when I heard he was doing a Target Collection, I begged fellow editors to set up a try-on series. Picking one piece was challenging, but I landed on this stunning slime green knit dress—and I don’t regret it at all. It’s such a high-quality knit considering how affordable it is, and it’s so comfortable. I can see myself styling it so many different ways, like with knee-highs and a trench coat or even with cowboy boots. But possibly my favorite thing about this dress is the color! After a hard few years, embracing a bold, saturated shade is the perfect way to bring a little joy back into getting dressed. “—Jasmine Fox-Suliaman, Audience Engagement Editor

“I decided to make it easy and I chose an outfit from the lookbook. I went with the Sandy Liang (love her!)-designed brown faux fur hoodie and the quilted olive green joggers. In the future (i.e. when it’s cold enough), I imagine I’ll wear this outfit with chunky boots to really complete the look. The two pieces look so cool together but I also can’t wait to wear the jacket (which is super-soft and looks and feels so expensive) with jeans, and the joggers (which are so comfortable and perfect) with New Balance sneakers.”—Alyson Payer, Senior Editor

“Target seriously popped off with this fall collection—and this knit set made in collaboration with Victor Glemaud is all the proof you need. It has all the feeling of luxury at an under-$100 price point. Glemaud is known for his fun knits, and after his runway debut at NYFW this season, I had high hopes for his collection with Target and was not left disappointed. This color screams “Barney, but make it fashion” and I’m totally okay with that. Bring on all the saturated shades for fall.”—Yusra Siddiqui, Assistant Market Editor

“Target does it again! I cannot speak more highly about this pullover and pants—the quality is amazing and they really nailed the fit. Sandy Liang has been a favorite of mine since almost the beginning so it was a treat to wear something of hers at such an accessible price point. Sometimes with mainstream designer collabs, the end result feels like a weak dilution of the real thing, but to me, both pieces stay true to the original Sandy Liang aesthetic. The pullover is cropped so it’s not just a big shapeless mass over your top half—might I add it’s also extremely warm! I chose to style it with Salomon sneakers (my everyday shoe at this point) and the green cargo pants from the same collection. They’re a mid-rise fit, so it’s different from my high-rise only policy, but I can make an exception.”
