Pitbull, Tom MacDonald Shred Rising Anti-American Voices

It isn’t easy being a subversive artist today.

For starters, even the edgiest media outlets won’t have your back, especially if the sentiment runs afoul of Democratic talking points.

You’re supposed to support the President now, no questions asked. Even better? Concoct comedy bits backing his signature rhetoric.

To be bold today takes a newer tact. It’s one both Pitbull and Tom MacDonald embraced in recent days.

Call it, “America … love it or leave it.”

MacDonald’s latest music video, “America,” dropped Oct. 1. The track, like most of the rapper’s songs, quickly generated north of 2 million views on YouTube alone. It also hung near the top of the iTunes’ “All Genres” music chart.

The lyrics are exactly what fans expect from MacDonald – a fat thumb in the eye to the progressive Left.

Lately, USA is gettin’ scarier
Half of the Americans I see all hate America
They hate the cops doin’ they best to take care of us
And kneel for the flag, insult the soldiers that we’re buryin’
I’m tired of the pissin’ and complainin’
Why you living in America if all you do is hate it?
You think it’s brave to take a stand against the nation
Real bravery is dying for the right so you could say it

Meanwhile, another rapper is singing a similar tune from his musical pulpit.

Pitbull lacks MacDonald’s dreadlocks and YouTube supremacy, but he’s been a major player in hip hop for nearly two decades. Fusing rap, crunk and more musical styles, Pitbull defies easy categorization.

He doesn’t mind reaching across the aisle, a simple act that draws suspicion in select circles. That includes rubbing elbows with right-leaning politicians like Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Jeb Bush.

He’s also a firm believer in charter schools, hardly a popular subject for chart toppers like Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen. He even embraced Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, one of the more vilified figures in the Trump administration, four years ago as part of.a charter school ceremony noting his educational vision.

He founded SLAM in 2013 hoping to create a more engaging education for students in grades 6 through 12 by highlighting careers in sports leadership and management.

Now, he’s slamming those who call America home but can’t stop trashing it.

“To whoever the f*** doesn’t like the United States of America, may God bless you, but f*** you at the same time …  If you don’t like the United States of America, go back to the countries that we the f*** from, and you’ll see how much you appreciate the United States of America,” he said during an undated concert appearance shared on social media.

The crowd greeted Pitbull’s statement with a hearty roar. MacDonald’s fans are clearly lapping up his newest video.

Outliers? Fans eager to cheer on their favorite rappers, no matter what they happen to say?

Maybe.

One thing is clear. Pitbull and MacDonald echo feelings a large swath of the public holds dear, even if other singers are afraid to share it.
