Paris Has Confirmed the 7 Trends That Will Be Everywhere in 6 Months

Believe it or not, we’ve reached the bittersweet ending of fashion month. While I truly enjoy stalking social media and my inbox for updates on New York, London, and Milan Fashion Week—Paris just always is on a completely different level. Several new trends emerge that take over my Instagram feed and eventually my closet for several months if not years. I also tend to walk away with dozens of outfits that I can’t wait to copy.

This year, there’s a lot to take in so put on your seatbelts. Our favorite French designers have been more daring than we’ve ever seen before. Their designs breathed life into the fashion space with high energy and excitement present at every show. Ushering in shocking sheer moments, shorter than ever shorts, bright colors, and very unique accessory choices. Sophisticated elegance was the common theme that tied the shows together but instead of the stuffy feeling that we often associate with a higher level of fashion think excitement, effortlessness, and versatility. You need to know the 7 trends below.

At this point, we’re not strangers to leather. The edgy fabric has been soaking up the spotlight for some time now and is universally loved but its mainly appeared in more soft and feminine silhouettes in recent years. Well the real deal is back and harder than ever with the return of heavy-duty leather. Paris fashion week designers are reviving the traditional motorcycle jacket, distressed leather materials, and even leather dresses and trench coats. Think, a Chrome Hearts approach to fashion.

This is the perfect first step towards adopting this trend.

When cargo pants meet heavy duty leather it’s love at first sight.

We love a good vest.

The it-girls already have this one in their closets.

The Spring/Summer runways were doused in micro skirts so the anticipation for what would follow the shortest skirt we had ever seen since 2008 was quite the build up. The Fall/Winter take on this trend is the micro shorts. Put your legs on display in a whole new way by taking a break from the Bermuda shorts that have been trending for quite some time and trying out short shorts. Style it just like the runways by pairing it with a pair of thigh-high boots or socks.

This is going to be an it-item this year.

Tweed suit sets dominated the runway so you can’t go wrong with this look.

The fashion girls take on daisy dukes.

You can’t go wrong with leather.

The next stage of the preppy trend has arrived and it has me convinced to try something completely new. I am proud of myself for predicting this one—the runways really backed me up here.Adding a tie as a finishing touch to any outfit is such a chic way of completing the look. We went from prep school chic to being the CEO of the company. I’m all about that.

You’ll have this in your closet forever.

The girly girls can still pull this trend off by choosing something that feels feminine and floral.

How cool is this.

A classic.

The theme of motorcycle jackets branches off into a league of its own with this sporty trend. All of the elements of motocross riders gear have found their way onto the runway. Think added padding, color blocking, and more. You’ll also find retro sports elements like logos, shapes, and worn-out sneakers. Basically, we’re introducing the new athleisure here.

If you really want to take on this trend, the New Balance x Staud collab will be a great starting point.

I wear this sweater on the regular.

This is such a fashion girl moment.

Everyone could benefit from having a sneaker like this in their collection.

In a world full of neutrals, color is certainly on the rise right now and the best new way to wear it is by donning a bright and fun pair of tights. Each look you see above is elevated to a whole other level thanks to the addition of the colorful tights. It’s any easy way to make an all-black look feel not so boring or add even more of a statement to that hot pink dress you’ve been dying to wear.

This would be such a fabulous way to dress up that LBD of yours.

Because fashion girls love green.

I have a feeling these won’t rip.

Here for this.

If you’ve taken just one look at the Who What Wear homepage, I’m sure you already know that we love a good basic. So as you might assume, we are instantly all over this anti-trend trend. You won’t regret spending a little extra in this category because you’ll have these pieces for life. And for the record, you can never have too many white tanks.

A cardigan the French fashion designers would get behind.

I think this is the chicest black dress I’ve ever worn.

I’m here before it sells out.

The perfect oversized white tee.

I love my closet full of coats, like a lot. But one thing that makes me love them, even more, is finding a new way to wear them. Adding a belt makes any coat feel like even more of a fashion statement. While attending New York Fashion Week this season, I wore an oversized men’s coat with a statement belt and achieved this look so easily. It made a piece that many other people have feel different so I’ll definitely be doing it again with the other outerwear in my closet.

This is the belt I wore and it looks so good on top of any coat.

I’ve had my eye on this belt for some time now.

This is perfection.

We love a good rope belt.
