NFL Star Chad Wheeler Pleads Not Guilty To Domestic Violence Charge

Former Seattle Seahawks player Chad Wheeler has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges of first-degree domestic violence assault, domestic violence, unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest.

Wheeler was arraigned on Monday morning at King County’s Maleng Regional Justice Center and was ordered to remain on electronic home detention with a GPS-equipped ankle monitoring device.

Wheeler was arrested and booked after his girlfriend accused him of twice choking her into unconsciousness while he was undergoing what both referred to as a “manic episode.”

The Seahawks waived Wheeler following his arrest. He is now a free agent.

“I am deeply sorry for the pain and suffering that I have caused to [the woman] and her family. I apologize profusely for the turmoil that I have caused to my family, teammates, fans and those closest to me. The most important thing right now is that [the woman] gets the care she needs and I get help. Both are happening,” he tweeted following his arrest.

“It is time for me to walk away from football and get the help I need to never again pose a threat to another. I cannot express my sorrow or remorse enough. I am truly ashamed.”
