My Favorite Spring Beauty Sale Is on—Here’s How I’m Shopping the Hell Out of It

When it comes to buying beauty, I like to shop as strategically as possible. Since I’m a beauty editor, I have tons of favorite products that I think are worth paying full price for, but I also know that if you time it right, you can usually get them on sale. Dermstore’s Beauty Refresh Event is here, and between March 1 and March 10, you can save up to 20% on some of the best beauty brands out there—many of which don’t usually go on sale.

As I’m making my Dermstore wish list, I’m looking ahead at the products I’m going to get the most use out of. I’m a shopping pragmatist, so I won’t be going for fun or flashy products. Instead, I’ll opt for the things I would buy anyway but now can get on major discount. More than anything, I’m looking to stock up on sunscreen ahead of summer, replenish my moisturizers, and re-up my favorite hair products. Below, I’ve compiled a list of all the products that are no-brainers for me to add to my Dermstore cart. Don’t forget to use the code REFRESH at checkout to claim your discount.

I have never met a Supergoop! sunscreen that I didn’t like. To me, the brand can really do no wrong. This hydrating sunscreen oil does not disappoint. It goes on smoothly, blends easily, and supports the skin’s microbiome with prebiotics.

Trust me—this affordable cream is a secret weapon for many industry experts, from makeup artists to dermatologists. In fact, most makeup artists that I’ve talked to keep a tube of this in their kits at all times. You can use it on your face and your body to intensely hydrate, soothe skin, and repair damage.

There is nothing more refreshing than a good face mist, especially as the weather starts to warm up. This French girl favorite has just one ingredient: thermal spring water bottled directly from Avène Thermal Spring in the South of France. The water has naturally soothing properties that heal and replenish skin.

This is another product straight from French pharmacy shelves. Vichy volcanic water and hyaluronic acid nourish and hydrate skin, so you’re left with a plumped, glowing complexion. My favorite pro tip is to mist your face with Avène’s Thermal Spring Water and apply this serum directly after to seal in the moisture. Once you try this for yourself, your skincare routine will never be the same, I promise.

In preparation for sandal season, I highly recommend slipping on a pair of Baby Foot socks to slough off dead skin accumulated over the winter. The result will be incredibly soft feet that look renewed. Do it now before you start wearing sandals regularly because your feet will peel at first.

I think this is the single smartest purchase you can make from the Dermstore sale, and you can quote me on that. Every summer, I find myself wishing I had had the foresight to stock up on sunscreen before long days at the beach and picnics at the park. Supergoop!’s Play Everyday Lotion is my absolute favorite body sunscreen, hands down. It moisturizes while it protects, and I know that whenever I bring it to an outdoor event, my friends will inevitably end up ditching their sunscreens to use some of mine—this sunscreen is that good! This deal adds up to about $2.50 an ounce, which is more than worth it, in my book. I legitimately might buy two bottles.

This is one of those products that I will always buy no matter what. I don’t think I’ve ever used a better lip balm. Ultra-filling spheres hydrate and increase lip volume, while palmitoyl tripeptide-38 and portulaca pilosa extract minimize fine lines on lips. It makes your lips look insanely plump and pillowy. Get it now while it’s on sale because it rarely is.

If you’re sensing a theme here, it’s not by accident—I really think you should use this sale as an opportunity to stock up on SPF. If you ask any dermatologist what sunscreen they recommend, chances are they’re going to tell you Elta MD. It’s gentle and noncomodegenic and works across all skin tones and types. I like this tinted one because most physical sunscreens are hard to blend, but this one melts into skin seamlessly.

I’m currently growing my hair out, and it’s a struggle to keep it healthy. I turn to hair masks to revive my hair and help it grow as much as possible. This one is specifically made for dry, damaged, or chemically treated hair. A blend of rose-hip oil, B vitamins, and algae helps make your hair looks its absolute best, regardless of how much damage it has right now.

Okay, this is one of the most innovative makeup products I’ve ever tried. As you blend, it matches your skin tone to provide a filtered, blurring coverage to your skin. Not only that, but it also has SPF, vitamin C, peptides, and botanicals, so it’s basically five products in one.

I am a sucker for French skincare. When I was in Paris in October, I spent so much time roaming the shelves of French pharmacies I was like a kid in a candy store. This soothing moisturizer helps heal skin and calm any inflammation.

I’m such a blush person. When I do my makeup, I end up putting blush basically all over my face—on the apples of my cheeks, blended into my temples, on the tip of my nose, and sometimes on my eyelids. This customizable blush lets you pick the intensity as you put it on, and it looks so gorgeous on all skin tones.

Yes, there are two themes to this list: sunscreen and French beauty products. This French-crafted dry shampoo is the best I’ve ever tried. It absorbs oil, gives hair tons of volume, and doesn’t leave any residue.

My Sunday ritual is to pop on eye masks while I drink coffee. I like to keep these ultra-hydrating masks in my refrigerator for a cooling, refreshing treat.

My skin tolerates most actives fairly well, but every once in a while, a product will leave my skin inflamed and angry. When that happens, I like to smooth on a layer of this cream to calm down my skin. It works like a charm and restores my skin to its normal state quickly. This is also recommended for people who have just had procedures like laser, so you can trust it to majorly heal. I keep a tube of this in my medicine cabinet at all times.

One side effect of the world opening up more is that I’ve been using heat-styling tools on my hair quite a bit.  Before I put any heat on my hair, I prime it with this spray to protect it from damage.

Hands down, these are my favorite hair ties. They’re versatile, they don’t pull or cause damage, and they keep hair from creasing, so I like wearing them to bed. Get them now while they’re on sale, and they’ll last you forever (or if you’re like me, until you mysteriously lose them).

My secret to applying makeup smoothly is that I dermaplane my face. It helps give me the smoothest possible canvas for any and all face makeup. This kit makes dermaplaning easy and super hygienic, which is important.

I love face oils, but only when they’re multitasking. This oil is infused with vitamin C and turmeric to brighten.

This set has a $270 value, which is why it’s even better to get it on sale. Try out all of the absolute best Dermstore products for a fraction of the price—you won’t regret it.  Next, I’m a Beauty Editor—Here’s How I’m Saving $328 on 20 Iconic Beauty Products
