It's Official—Dark French Tips Are the “It” Manicure for Autumn

In my opinion, there is nothing more classic than a French manicure. This nail trend has grown in popularity over recent years, which could be down to the ‘quiet luxury’ aesthetic, as it’s perfect for those of you who like a more minimal yet chic finish. That being said, when autumn rolls around, I’m always drawn towards darker shades, and tend to opt for a trendy block-coloured manicure instead.

I’ve often found myself wondering if there was a way to combine both nail trends to create somewhat of an autumnal French manicure. As it turns out, there is, and it’s just as cool as you’d expect. That’s right, say hello to dark French tip nails. After coming across darker French tip designs on Instagram, I have become obsessed with this nail trend, and can’t wait to give it a go.

Instead of a nude or pink base with a white French tip, this trend incorporates lots of chic autumnal colours such as black, brown and burgundy. You can of course still opt for a nude base with a darker tip, or you can mix and match colours and finishes. For example, you could go for a matte burgundy base with glossy burgundy French tips, or go for a white base with black French tips to make them stand out even more. Whatever design you decide on, there’s no denying that this nail trend looks super expensive, and I have a feeling that we will be seeing it everywhere this season. So, if you’re looking for some inspiration before your next trip to the salon, keep on scrolling…

I love the contrasting tones between the white and black colours here.

So simple yet so chic.

For a pop of colour, why not opt for a dark green French tip?

Don’t be afraid to play with matte and glossy finishes.

I love these glitter French tips. Perfect for party season!

I keep coming back to this shade of green.

Quiet luxury nails at their finest.

If you don’t want a full French manicure, why not mix it up with some dark nails as well?

Burgundy is one of my favourite nail colours for autumn.

As well as chocolate brown of course.

If you want to recreate the look at home, keep things nice and easy with these press-on nails.

These handy nail art pens will make doing a French tip so much easier.

If you want to do it with nail polish, opt for a nail brush like this one from Manucurist.
