It's Giving Paris—23 Amazon Finds French Women Would Be All Over

I’ve officially been studying French style for 12 years, so, by now, I’d like to think I know what makes Gallic girls tick. I hate to stereotype as there will always be exceptions to the rule but, in most instances, I’d say the key to unlocking the French woman’s innate sense of style and effortless way of getting dressed is to go back to basics. Get your staples right—well cut blazers, timeless jeans, simple tops and premium-looking knits (with a black-and-white stripe thrown in for good measure)—and you’ll find yourself right on course.

With all the buzz around October 2023’s Amazon Prime Days (aka Big Deals Days) and the subsequent deals found within, I challenged myself to create the chicest French-inspired edit possible solely from Amazon, utilising only the best discounts you need concern yourself with. And you know what? I was easier than I thought it would be.

French women use wardrobe staples to build out their timeless looks; items which Amazon has plenty of.

Turns out, Amazon has many, many expensive-looking pieces right now, with lots of them having major discounts applied too. Think classic trench and camel coats that will help you kickstart your winter wardrobe with ease, Levi’s 501s (yes, really), elevated finds such as silk shirts and slip dresses that look beautiful worn after dark and elegant shoes for all occasions. Put simply, if I were to move to Paris, this is the capsule wardrobe I’d set myself up with. It’s that chic.

I’m a cynic myself, so let me address the elephant in the room: What’s the catch? You’ll be pleased to hear there isn’t one. All you need to do to shop my French-inspired Amazon Prime Day deals is sign up for an Amazon Prime account here. It’s free for 30 days so you can access all the benefits of the Big Deal Days discounts without shelling out a penny (just remember to cancel before the 30 days is up if you don’t want to pay the monthly fee going forward). Aside from that, French fashion for less awaits.

Trench coats are an integral part of the French aesthetic, particularly in classic beige tones.

I added these to my Amazon basket faster than you can say “Prime Day”!

Well, aren’t these sleek? I also love the brown colour way.

Speaking of brown, how perfect is this chocolate-coloured knitted dress? I’ll be wearing it with the above boots.

Just add jeans, loafers and a cute little neck scarf.

Clarks shoes always rank highly in terms of comfort.

I own these earrings in silver and gold and get so many compliments on them,

My weakness is a checked blazer.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a pure-silk shirt for less, let me tell you.

Breton stripes might sound cliche, but French women genuinely do wear them,

I know I’ll be able to dress these wide-leg trousers up or down. It goes without saying that I’m also tempted by the black pair.

Ever wondered how to style a black slip dress? Marissa Cox has a few French-approved tips.

It is the City of Lights, after all—make like a celeb in these designer-looking shades.

How—I repeat, how—is this coat less than £30?

A chic little dumpling of a bag.

This comes in just about every colour you can think of, but black is a safe bet.

Toe-cap shoes are synonymous with Chanel, which happens to be synonymous with France. Still with me?

French women wear cardigans with everything, from jeans and tailoring to skirts and dresses. Follow suit with this versatile style.

An elevated trouser that works for day and night.

This looks so high-end.

Try wearing this with everything you’d wear a white tee with. Then you’ll see how practical a purchase it is.

From the wide legs to the high waistline all the way to the deep blue hue, these Amazon jeans are essentialy fluent in French.

French women are more likely to wear a watch than any other item of jewellery. This mixed-metal style will go with literally everything.
