In Case You’re Wondering, These Are the Bags and Shoes We Want Right Now

I’m a bag and shoe person. You too? Excellent. You’re going to adore the info coming your way. Many of my colleagues (like you and I) also have a thing for bags and shoes. Let’s be real: That special accessory can instantly breathe life into even the simplest of outfits. In addition, versatile bags and shoes can have a strong cost per wear and can be styled over and over again with a multitude of different outfits.

With all that in mind, I decided to ask my fellow fashion editors about the investment bags and shoes they’re really into right now. You know, for a little visual or shopping inspiration. Below, you’ll uncover a trove of gorgeous finds to suit a range of styles, including of-the-moment loafers, dreamy designer shoulder bags, and everything in between. Keep scrolling for more.

“I’ve been thinking about the Celine Triomphe bag for months, and I’m convinced it’s the perfect everyday piece.”

“Turns out, I’m a sneaker person now.”

“Just when I thought the Puzzle Bag couldn’t get better, the brand comes out with this beauty.”

“I’m as confused by this selection as you probably are, but something about these is really speaking to me.”

“It’s scary, but Y2K style is in full effect right now. That means lots of shades of brown and tan and gaudy butterfly-motif jewelry, which my 8-year-old self would be particularly giddy over. I love this bag for its throwback appeal, but it’s perfectly gorgeous enough to still wear once everyone has moved on from low-rise jeans and exposed thongs.”

“These don’t need much of an introduction. These crystal-embellished slingbacks are my dream heels at the moment. But you better run fast because they’re selling out like crazy.”

“I imagine that the equestrian vibes of this new Saint Laurent bag would give me an air of ‘rides horses on the weekends.’ Aside from that, it’s just really polished and chic and would make a great everyday bag.”

“Gia Borghini really knows how to churn out the It shoes. I predict that these will be an influencer and celeb favorite in a matter of weeks.”

“I love Staud’s beaded bags and already own one, but every time I think I’m content with the one I own, the brand releases another one that captures my heart. I have the floral one, and this new one is the funky addition my wardrobe needs.”

“I’m not one to invest in luxury shoes, but I’ve had my eye on these chunky Gucci loafers for a while now, and I think I’m ready to pull the plug. I know some may think the chunky silhouette is trendy, but it’s my go-to for shoes, so I know this pair will act as a timeless piece in my wardrobe.”

“I haven’t stopped thinking about this bag since I first saw it. I love squeezing my favorite things into a mini bag and running out for the day, and this one would be perfect for the job. Red is my favorite color right now, so its boldness draws me in.”

“Valentino’s answer to the platform-pump trends comes at the right time. I’m so ready to take the plunge. This pair of shoes reminds me of what Barbie would wear. All of that cushion around the toes means, despite the height, you’ll be pretty comfortable wearing them.”

“I just went with my friend over the weekend to buy the Gucci Jackie bag, and now, I can’t stop thinking about getting one for myself (shocker). It’s the perfect shape and size, and it’s classic with a vintage vibe but still feels very on-trend right now.”

“Well, I guess I’m a clog person now because I’ve been dreaming of these bad boys since the moment I laid my eyes on them. They look comfy, cool, and like just what all my 2022 outfits need.”

“When it’s cold outside, I love to inject a little color into my all-black uniform to brighten up gloomy days. This taxi-colored suede handbag is at the top of my wish list.”

“I mean, how could you not want these boots?”

“Ever since I saw Kendall Jenner carrying this ’90s-esque shoulder bag from The Row, I’ve been obsessed, and rightfully so. The size is perfect for everyday use—not too big but not too small either. Also, unlike so many bags these days, it’s just super simple and classic, ensuring that, while its trendiness might fade, it’ll never actually go out of style.”

“Keeping on theme, I’ve fallen in love with these ultra-classic and feminine Jimmy Choo sandals. The heel height is perfect for both daytime and nighttime wear—with jeans and a trench for daytime and with a midi tube skirt or dress for nighttime—and the color is simply luxurious.”

“This bag isn’t necessarily a showstopper, and that’s precisely why I love it. The silhouette is timeless, making it a worthwhile investment. Plus, a tan leather bag always gets a lot of use.”

“Gorgeous, gorgeous girls wear loafers. But seriously, I don’t know why it took me so long to own a pair, and now, I wear mine all the time. The ones I currently have are a classic black style, but I’m eyeing these square-toe ones from Ganni for spring. The baby blue is putting me in all kinds of good moods.”

“Similar to Kristen, I’m loving a Celine moment right now. This new silhouette with the larger Triomphe logo is just so sweet.”

“You just can’t go wrong with New Balance sneakers. It’s the color-blocked silhouettes I love right now.”

“I didn’t think something as simple as a leather shoulder bag could make me feel so moved, but that’s exactly what Ratio et Motus’s holster bag has done. Every detail is carefully thought out, from the utilitarian hardware to the interior pockets. My only dilemma is deciding between the beige and green colors…”

“A pair of Margiela Tabis has been high on my wish list for a while now, and I’m convinced that if I owned this pair of ballet pumps that I’d wear nothing else. I can envision them with everything from loose jeans to a little black dress, so I know I’d get plenty of wear out of them.”

“This is a genuinely perfect little bag from Rylan, my favorite accessory line designed out of Sydney and made in Italy. It’s nice and structured, has a glorious oversize gold buckle and removable shoulder strap, and fits exactly the right amount of things… all of which I know because I already own it in brown. Is having it in two colors overkill? Let’s find out.”

“If I’m slow to reply to texts or emails, it’s only because I’m currently quite busy fantasizing about European summer travel in great detail, right down to my airport outfits. These quilted, lightweight, lug-soled Prada sandals are, frankly, very practical and definitely worthy of being next season’s investment in comfy-ugly-cool footwear (and not just because they’ll be great with socks on the plane).”
