I'm a Fashion Editor—These Are the 9 New-In Buys I Just Added to My Wish List

As an editor at Who What Wear, I typically spend a lot of time looking at new-in products, so I thought it would be handy to have this space where I’m able share with you the very best pieces I come across and the shopping picks I’m personally adding to my wish list.

This month, like a lot of us, I’ve been in full summer holiday mode, planning for a few upcoming European breaks. But with the weather in the UK not wholly playing ball right now, I’ve also started to feel the pangs of looking ahead to autumn. If I’m going to invest in items now, I want them to be able to transition from this season into the next. Take Toteme’s back-in-stock cotton dress for example—I’ll be wearing that now with my A.Emery sandals, but will be belting a black blazer over it come September. Massimo Dutti’s seriously designer-looking ballet flats are equally as versatile, and can work with shorts or dresses now, as well as jeans in autumn thanks to the closed toe.

The current new-in sections seem to be just as torn as I am. There’s plenty of beautiful new in dresses, slinky silks and warm-weather accessories to enjoy in the remaining days of sunshine. But we are also seeing early autumn (or “pre-fall”) collections arriving too, mainly focusing on transitional basics like light knitwear and  leather bags (hello, new Loewe Puzzle tote!).

My advice? Don’t overthink it. As always here at Who What Wear, if you’re in the mood for some retail therapy, we advise you to choose classic pieces you truly love so you’ll enjoy wearing them year-round whatever the weather. Personally, I can just feel myself shifting towards a slightly more transitional colour palette of browns, blues, and shades of cream that won’t suddenly feel out of place come autumn. And I’m gravitating towards updated basics like COS’s new oversized T-shirt, and Agolde’s incredibly cool new carpenter jeans that will make my existing wardrobe feel more modern and exciting now and into the months ahead.

So, whether you’re looking to invest in some key new-in buys, get inspired to “shop” your existing wardrobe, or you’re simply looking to discover what a fashion editor is actually adding to basket right no, keep scrolling to see the 9 new-in items on my current wish list that I believe are really worthy of your time and money.

An easy, throw-on black dress is a wardrobe hero you’ll pull out year-round. This Nobody’s Child number will go with tan leather sandals and a basket bag on holiday now, as well as knee high boots in autumn.

After being recommended this shirt so many times, I finally invested in it and I have zero regrets. I’ll be throwing it over a bikini as a poolside cover-up, and wearing with linen trousers (and then jeans) as the summer goes on.

So. Chic. All these beautiful silk-crepe trousers need right now is a simple tank top and sandals, but I can also imagine them looking gorgeous with a blazer and loafers.

I’ve had my eye on this comfy-looking dress all year, and it’s finally been restocked. I don’t want to regret missing it again.

Obviously in a dream world I’d love the Bottega mini Jodie bag, but these days most of us have had to tighten our purse strings, so it’s hard to argue with this more affordable dupe from Anthropololgie.

I’m already excited to wear these and they haven’t even arrived yet. Imagine them with Agolde’s slouchy jeans below and a crisp white tank top. Beautiful.

I know Agolde jeans require a bit of an investment, but after years and years of making it my mission to find the best quality and best-fitting jeans, they always come out on top. This new design feels modern and cool, but also grown-up and elevated styled like this.

The older I get the more room I like to have in my handbags for all the crap I inevitably end up carrying around. I’ve long been a fan of Loewe’s timeless puzzle crossbody, but this. This is the dream.

I’ll take one in every colour please, COS.

This will look effortless over a white tank top and some classic denim or linen shorts, with some simple leather sandals and a basket to finish off the perfect summer outfit.

So chic and easy to throw on during the upcoming heatwaves.

I’ve noticed contrast tank tops appearing as a micro trend over the last few weeks, and I’m into it. It’s such an easy way to elevate a staple I rely on all summer.

Told you. The perfect white linen trousers.

I’m sorry but these could so easily be designer. Sold.

I’ve  already seen a few influencers in this dress and every time I just think it looks so easy and cute. I’m thinking it would work for weddings with some heeled sandals, but also on holidays and on warm summer weekends in the city with flats.

When doing my weekly scrolling of the new-in sections, this chic co-ord stopped me in my tracks. Me+Em is absolutely nailing the “rich mom” quiet luxury look right now and I’m sure this set will sell out very quickly.

A Dragon Diffusion basket has been on my summer wish list for so many years. I finally just invested in this one and I’m so excited for it to arrive.

I saw these on super-stylist Angie Smith recently and fell head over heels. I’m all for breezy comfort when it comes to summer dressing and these will feel so cool with a simple white tank and the Massimo Dutti sandals above.

If you’re a big fan of The Row, like me, you’ll love these trousers as a way of getting the same quiet luxury look for less.

This summer, I want to invest in a pair of anti-trend sandals that I know I will want to wear every year. These have been on my wish list for years.

Dôen dresses are some of the most versatile around—I’ll be dressing this up with white strappy heels for weddings and down with the flat sandals above on warmer London days.

I know these feel like a rather large investment, but I’ve lost count of the amount of editors and influencers that have recommended them to me as the best pair of jeans they own.

I can’t live without my white tank tops in summer.

I’ve wanted this silk set for a couple of years now and it’s still top of my warm-weather wish list, which gives me confidence that it’s a wise investment I know I’ll want to wear for years to come.

So simple, yet so elevated. Just pair with a basket, lashings of gold jewellery and some simple sandals for a completely timeless, ageless look.

I’m still on the hunt for a pair of timeless luxe sunglasses that don’t have a crazy price tag. These fit the bill perfectly.

I have so many weddings to attend this year, so I’m thinking I’ll invest in one dress that I really love to wear to them all, rather than worry about coming up with different looks. This beautiful style (that will also look great with flats on holiday) is currently the strongest contender.

These may not be entirely practical, but my heart beats very fast for them. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut when it comes to your wardrobe—that’s when you find pieces you truly want to wear day in and day out.

Strapless tube tops have my full attention this spring, and this sculptural style is the main reason. I can see myself wearing it with loose jeans (namely, Arket’s Shore style in the list below), and some pointed-toe sling backs or strappy sandals for when I want to feel a little more dressed up than usual.

I’ve been influenced, and have been looking for the perfect long denim skirt—one of the coolest things you can be wearing for S/S 23. I love it when these buzzy, ‘on trend’ items are also really classic and wearable, and COS’s new-in version is the best one I’ve found at that under-£100 price point. I’m still yo-yoing between the darker blue or white denim colourway, but since we’re looking ahead I think the white might just take the cake.

I popped into Arket recently for our Great Try On, and these were the one item I haven’t been able to stop thinking about ever since. I never thought I’d be into low rise jeans but I loved the cool slouch to this pair. At 5’2″ they didn’t overwhelm me like other baggy jeans can do, either. They are roomy around the waist so I’d probably recommend sizing down one size to get the perfect fit.

If I had to pick a favourite designer handbag right now, it would be Toteme’s utterly beautiful T-Lock bag. It’s timeless, elevated, and it screams quiet luxury; it’s certainly not a style you’ll see everyone else wearing either. I love the medium size that feels practical but not ‘ludicrously capacious'(Succession fans, that ones for you), and it has a crossbody strap for versatility.

A crisp pinstripe shirt is a key layering piece for spring, and this will look effortlessly chic over a white T-shirt. As the weather warms up I wear them like cover-ups too.

I have these perfect wide-leg trousers in black which were probably my best investment of winter, so I’ve got my eye on the lighter beige pair to wear with tank tops all spring and summer.

Yes, it’s back! And I won’t let it slip away for another year.

The best affordable tweed jacket out there.

White tank tops are my most worn staple, so I know for a fact the cost per wear for this will creep down rather quickly.

I just feel like this would make any basic outfit look polished.

See? So classic but they still feel fresh.

I couldn’t not include a trench, and this is the style you’ll see fashion people wearing this year.

Still living rent free in my mind, especially this elevated Khaki colour.

I just know I’ll wear these all year on repeat.

Such a chic jacket.
