I Stopped Wearing Skinny Jeans, and I Care About This Denim Trend Now

I exclusively wore skinny jeans for years—at least a decade. If you were to open my denim drawer at any given point, you’d basically uncover a sea of black skinny jeans, specifically. Well, that’s changed. I’ll note that I still own my skinny jeans and think they’re classic (so they’ll probably continue to stay in my rotation), but I’ve basically stopped wearing them in favor of straight-leg jeans. I don’t know if it’s my focus on more relaxed fashion or the fact that I write about countless outfit ideas that feature straight-leg jeans, but the denim trend just speaks to me right now.

I’m primarily wearing light-wash blue jeans from Levi’s and Madewell (you’ll find a snap below), but I’m also dabbling in gray and darker washes. In honor of my adoration for straight-leg jeans, I rounded up some of my current-favorite outfit ideas featuring the silhouette—you know, in case you also favor the style and need some inspiration. Here I am in my Levi’s jeans with my tried-and-true white shirt.

As showcased above, one of my favorite looks with blue jeans is timeless with a relaxed white button-down shirt.

I’m very into the denim-on-denim vibe right now, like with this ensemble that also features an oversize blazer.

I still consider a moto jacket to be a staple, and I’m always into the classic vibe by pairing one with blue jeans and sneakers.

It’s all about the longline coat for winter—effortlessly chic with jeans and loafers.

The quilted jacket continues to reign supreme. I have one that’s a go-to with jeans and a top.

While simple, this ensemble gets an A+ with the of-the-moment cable-knit sweater and blue jeans.
