I Refuse to Dress Boring in 2022—These Picks Are Stylish, Yet Easy to Wear

Ever open your closet and just…stare? It’s the feeling where seemingly overnight, everything you own has suddenly betrayed you. Your trusty flats? No longer so trusty. The sweater you’ve been wearing all winter? The idea of putting it on one more time is unappealing at best. Even the uniform you’ve cobbled together for moments just like these feels uninspired.

Previously, when I’ve experienced the dreaded wardrobe drought, I’ve tended to oscillate between complete despair and self indulgent overwhelm. But, no more! It’s a new year, and I will not succumb to this barrage of negative thinking. Sometimes, that means I need to invest in a few new statement pieces that spark creativity when it comes to how I dress, like a bold colored top or a pair of patterned pants. Other times, it’s a matter of re-imagining my basics by adding pieces with unexpected details and flattering proportions. Below, I’ve rounded up my top picks to get you out of your slump. 2022, we’ve got this!

The square neck, the ruching at the bust, the long sleeves…this has to be one of the most flattering basics I’ve come across.

Hold on; the vegan leather looks so expensive. One reviewer calls it a “very soft material.”

I’d marry this top if I could.

Have you ever noticed how a great coat has the power to transform even the most vanilla outfit? You could throw a trench coat over a paper bag and it would still look chic.

Who says a button-up has to be boring? Opting for an oversized oxford lets you play with proportions, and not to be weird, but in my opinion…nothing’s sexier.

Chelsea boots with a chunky rubber sole have been everywhere this season.

A ribbed polo is honestly just so chic and versatile.

Shop the matching Mollie Knit Midi Skirt ($135). A cozy knit set is a timeless investment you’ll wear season after season.

I dare you to find someone who thinks this cable knit dress is anything but fabulous.

Pair these trousers with a cropped top and a chunky shoe, and you’re practically Tai from Clueless in the best way.

What’s more fun to wear going out than a faux fur coat?

A shacket in a neutral color is one of those things you didn’t know you needed, but it’ll become the most reached for item in your closet.

Shop the matching Wendy Wavy Ribbed Skirt ($135).  I’m a sucker for green, but wow this cute little set is truly special.

I love the texture a crinkled skirt brings to an outfit.

These jeans are admittedly a splurge, but the wash and silhouette are so spot on, you’ll find they’re the gift that keeps on giving.

I told you I had a thing for green. A shoe in a bold color can dress up the most basic of outfits.

In my humble opinion, socks are severely underrated. Pair these with your favorite loafers and jeans, and you’ve got yourself an unexpected outfit.

You’ll live in these flared leggings.

A little leopard always goes a long way.

I’m a big fan of a patterned pant, especially when it’s paired with a contrasting print.

This looks just like the Khaite dress I’ve been swooning over and it’s 1/3 of the price.

Tangerine is one of those colors that strangely looks good on all skin tones, plus the lace-up detail here is just too good.

The center seam on this sweater automatically elevates this closet essential.

A long, quilted coat is practical while also being v. cool.

I love the old school Delia’s vibe I’m getting from these.

A cropped tank under a matching sweater brings a youthful spin to a tried and true classic.

If you’re trying to up your wardrobe’s fun factor, look no further than a faux fur bucket hat à la Bella Hadid.

A fitted blazer is chic with a capital “C.”

Cozy and sophisticated? What more could you ask for?

Wear this over a t-shirt or button up, or on it’s own! The styling possibilities for this cropped sweater vest are endless.  Up next, Winter’s Not Over Yet: 28 Pieces I’m Adding to My Cart to Stay Chic in the Cold.
