I Live in NYC, But These 6 Outfits Won Compliments in Another Fashionable City

This has been a year of firsts for me. I got my first job as an editor here at Who What Wear (wahoo), I went to Europe for the first time, I went to New York Fashion Week for the first time, and to finish out the year, I went to Miami for Art Basel for the first time. What better way to end a year full of firsts than on a beach, looking at art, going to some of my favorite Miami restaurants, and attending events with my friends? I mean, sign me up. As an NYC-based fashion editor, I was ready to get out of the cold and gray of December in New York and get into white dresses while drinking Casa Del Sol tequila on a yacht and sneaking selfies with iconic Miami artist Romero Britto. Of course, as soon as I found out I was going to Miami, the first thing on my mind was, What am I going to wear? When I think of Miami, bright colors, fun prints, lots of white, and a little bit of a sexier vibe come to mind. So naturally, that’s what I brought in my suitcase. I wore some really great looks—if I do say so myself—but six outfits stood out above the rest.

Keep scrolling to see the looks I wore while in Miami that gained me tons of compliments as well as other great picks that didn’t make it into my suitcase.

I wore this yellow Cult Gaia dress to the Cult Gaia and Casa Del Sol party, and yes, it was on a yacht. After this, I went to Britto’s event with Ford Models and then headed to the Webster for another event. I love wearing the color yellow, and since it’s winter in New York City, I have boxed up all of my bright colors until spring, but in Miami, all of those rules go out the window. I carried this fun orange Bottega Veneta bag from Vivrelle to tie the whole thing together.

I’m the biggest fan of a simple, strappy white dress. It’s always a good choice and is so simple yet elevated. I wore this dress from Skims and paired it with these aviator sunglasses and an orange bag to add some color to the look. I was going to an event for the opening of the new Miami location of the med spa Squlpt Body Shaping, and the look was a hit.

If I’m going to Miami, I always have to stop at a beach club for some frosé and to show off my swim look. I’m a huge fan of Monday Swimwear, and lately, I have been all about black bikinis. Monday Swimwear’s suits always feel so high quality and look so good on. If you don’t have a suit from the brand, you’re missing out.

I think it’s safe to say that I love a white dress (and a yacht party). When I went back to the Casa Del Sol yacht for a party it was hosting with Rebecca Minkoff, I thought this is the perfect opportunity for this white maxi dress with a cutout from Beginning Boutique. This was a little on the risqué side, but hey, when in Rome…

I love to wear minidresses—definitely more than the average person. As someone who’s on the petite side, I love any dress that I can buy that will immediately work for my height without a trip to a tailor. This minidress from Asta Resort was a no-brainer for me. A comfortable mini in a bright color? Sign me up.

I hate to pick favorites, but this hot-pink set from Retrofête is by far the winner. I’m not normally the type of girl to go for a pair of Bermuda shorts, but something about this look was just screaming “wear me.” I wore this outfit to the Meta event, and I have to say it was one of the coolest events I went to at Art Basel. I’m a huge fan of Retrofête and the brand’s designer and creative director, Ohad Seroya. He always knows exactly what I’m wanting to wear next. If you’re looking for something that screams fun and sexy, Retrofête is where to go.
