Fashion People in Paris Wear These 5 Chic Basics, so I Will Too

When I sort through my Saved folder on IG that’s filled with outfit references, a large chunk of the fashion people included happen to live in Paris. I guess it makes sense given the appeal of that Parisian, je ne sais quoi aesthetic. Interestingly, many of the standout ensembles happen to feature elevated basics. I actually also have been living in some of the simple items in question, but some are pieces I’ve been considering and now want to test out.

To showcase all of this further, I rounded up five ensembles below that feature the basics that pique my interest given their chic and highly versatile nature. If you too want to add any of the pieces to your own offering, you’ll also find shopping recommendations to suit a variety of styles.

Pleated shorts feel incredibly chic for the season and are so versatile in that you can easily dress them up or down. I wear flat-front shorts mainly, so I’m giving these a try.

I have oversize blazers in a darker camel and black, but I want to incorporate a lightweight style in a lighter shade into my spring-and-summer wardrobe. A blazer just makes any of my outfits feel all the chicer.

I’ve been getting more and more into the denim-on-denim vibes recently. I love a good denim-jacket moment and want to go for cool chambray and denim shirts and shackets also.

For those cooler days and chillier nights, it’s all about the bomber jacket. The style is back, and I’m interested in a looser fit.

You can’t deny the power of great trousers to elevate any ensemble. A tan or khaki silhouette is where it’s at for me for a sleek and forward vibe.
