Excuse Me, But These 2 Ultra-Cool Editor Looks Deserve a Moment

Fall is here, and it’s officially time for two items to rise to the top of my rotation: jeans and boots. To be honest, you’ll rarely catch me without them come fall. And even though we’re still in that “kind of summer, kind of fall” weather, I already can’t stop wearing my favorite combo. To get some inspiration for how to wear the trend in this in-between time, I tapped Los Angeles–based Who What Wear editor Indya Brown, who knows a thing or two about dressing for high temps during the fall season. Keep scrolling to see how she’s wearing the two fall must-haves in her city—all thanks to Free People’s ultra-chic collection of cool denim, on-trend boots, and everything in between.

“Boots are one of those items that really signify the return of fall. They’re an all-purpose shoe that makes sense with any outfit—even more than other fall shoes like loafers or ballet flats. And while I love an array of denim, dark and medium washes have that distinct fall vibe that makes me think of my most treasured fall activities (aka brisk walks and apple picking). I love the combination of the vest and flared jeans because it feels very Western. I even took it all the way with the suede boots and heart choker.” — Indya Brown, market editor

“In my book of obsessions, you’ll find cargo pants front and center. They’re a staple I locked myself into after their big comeback last year, so once I saw this pair, I immediately started envisioning all of the outfits I’d wear with them. We’re still in a September heat wave, so I styled the pants with a strapless tube top and boots for a fall-meets-summer look. I can wear this to brunch, a concert, or out and about on a chill fall afternoon.” — Brown

Swap out your classic blue jeans.

Yes to Western boots.

Switch it up with a jumpsuit.

I love a lug sole.

Utility pants are trending.

Obsessed.

I didn’t used to be a flare-jeans person, but now, I can’t stop adding them to my cart. I love the wash on these. They give off that perfectly distressed, vintage vibe.

These look way more expensive than they are.
