All The Characters In “Avengers: Infinity War” Ranked By How Likely It Is They Don’t Survive The Movie

This post is full of spoilers and fan theories and rumors. Click through with caution!!!

The Wasp

The Wasp

How safe are they: Considering The Wasp is literally a titular character of Ant-Man And The Wasp, which comes out right after Avengers: Infinity War, I think she’s pretty safe.

MARVEL

Ant-Man

Ant-Man

How safe are they: Ditto Ant-Man.

MARVEL

Agent Coulson

Agent Coulson

How safe are they: Coulson isn’t confirmed for Infinity War, but there’s always a chance he could pop up, especially considering he’s confirmed for next year’s Captain Marvel. But seeing as how he’s “died” once already, I think he’s probably pre-disastered.

MARVEL

Agent Hill

Agent Hill

How safe are they: Yeah, I think it’s safe to say most of SHIELD will make it out of this one.

MARVEL

Nick Fury

Nick Fury

How safe are they: It’s actually not even clear if Fury is in Infinity War, but if he is, he’s probably safe. Then again, he’s “died” before.

MARVEL

Hawkeye

Hawkeye

How safe are they: There’s been a lot of controversy around whether Hawk Guy is even in Infinity War. Fans are speculating that he’s either being saved for a big role in Avengers 4 or that his very presence in Infinity War is some kind of spoiler. Either way, it’d probably be pretty weird to kill off a character like Hawk Guy in a movie he’s not even part of the marketing for.

MARVEL

Black Panther

Black Panther

How safe are they: Black Panther made $1.3 billion. Wakanda might be the scene of a pivotal battle sequence, but I don’t think Marvel’s going to do anything to mess with their new cash cow.

MARVEL

Shuri

Shuri

How safe are they: Black Panther made $1.3 billion…

MARVEL

Okoye and the Dora Milaje

Okoye and the Dora Milaje

How safe are they: ONE POINT THREE BILLION DOLLARS

MARVEL

M’Baku

M'Baku

How safe are they: OK, real talk, I hate to say this, but if anyone’s going to get a big emotional death sequence in Infinity War, my money would be on fan favorite, but fairly ancillary character M’Baku. Sorry.

MARVEL

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange

How safe are they: Based on the trailer, as well as how things play out in the 1991 The Infinity Gauntlet comic and 2013’s Infinity comic, which appear to be major influences for Avengers: Infinity War, Strange is probably both playing a major role and also probably making it alive.

MARVEL

Wong

Wong

How safe are they: If anyone from the Sanctum Sanctorum is going to die, though, it might be Wong. Which would be dumb.

MARVEL

The Hulk

The Hulk

How safe are they: Mark Ruffalo’s has a six-film Marvel contract. He’s only been in three so far and is confirmed for Infinity War and Avengers 4, which means Marvel’s still got plans for the character. Also, there’s some question about whether the character can even die. Banner said in Avengers he tried to kill himself and “the big green guy” spit the bullet out.

MARVEL

Star-Lord

Star-Lord

How safe are they: With a lot of the main Avengers’ contracts ending after 2019’s Avengers 4, it feels like Marvel will be shifting its focus to the Guardians Of The Galaxy as their flagship team. Without Star-Lord, it’s hard to imagine those movies working, so let’s put him in the safe category.

MARVEL

Teen Groot

Teen Groot

How safe are they: If anything happens to Rocket or Teen Groot I don’t think I’d ever recover.

MARVEL

Rocket Raccoon

Rocket Raccoon

How safe are they: I SAID IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ROCKET OR TEEN GROOT I WILL NEVER RECOVER

MARVEL

Mantis

Mantis

How safe are they: Mantis is the newest addition to the Guardians Of The Galaxy, so if they killed her off in Infinity War it’d be a little weird, but also it’d probably have the smallest impact on the future of the franchise.

MARVEL

Thanos

Thanos

How safe are they: So here’s the thing, I’m not totally convinced Thanos is going to die — or even be defeated! — by the end of Infinity War. In both The Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity comics he doesn’t actually die. One of Thanos’ big character traits is that he’s usually undone by his own insecurities, ego, and lack of self-worth (wow same). Also, based on what we’ve seen, there’s a good chance Infinity War is only the first act of Thanos’ invasion.

MARVEL

Falcon

Falcon

How safe are they: Well, in the comics, Falcon has taken over the mantle of Captain America after Steve Rogers di— actually, we’ll get to all that in a sec.

MARVEL

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch

How safe are they: Some fans are speculating that Scarlet Witch may be the plot device that allows the MCU to bring in all the characters from the X-Men universe after the 2019 merger of Disney and 21st Century Fox. Either way, she’s also a fairly new character that they’d spent a lot of time developing, killing her this early into her tenure would be a little weird.

MARVEL

Gamora

Gamora

How safe are they: She’s Thanos’ daughter, that’s a pretty bad position to be in going into Infinity War, but also, killing off Gamora before her and Star-Lord can figure out their Sam and Diane thing would be a shame.

MARVEL

Thor

Thor

How safe are they: Thor’s been through a lot, man. And Thor: Ragnarok is possibly the last Thor film. Still, he’s a supposed to be a pretty central character in Infinity War. I’d say he’s definitely in a risky spot, but probably fine.

MARVEL

Black Widow

Black Widow

How safe are they: Black Widow, like Hawk Guy, is just a normal person chilling with gods and super soldiers. She’s never been the safest bet, but there’s talk of actually giving her her own movie, so it seems like Marvel’s expecting she makes it out of Infinity War in one piece.

MARVEL

War Machine

War Machine

How safe are they: Considering his almost-death was the pivotal scene in Captain America: Civil War, it’d be a little repetitive to actually kill off War Machine in Infinity War, but he’s a friend of Tony Stark’s, he’s always in the red zone.

MARVEL

Happy Hogan

Happy Hogan

How safe are they: I dunno, man. I could see it happening. He’s been around since the first movie, it’s definitely possible. Also, he’s a friend of Tony’s.

MARVEL

Pepper Potts

Pepper Potts

How safe are they: Fans are pretty convinced that Pepper is going to get into one of Tony’s suits and then die trying to fight Thanos. But a death close to Tony was central plot point in Civil War, killing off Pepper would probably be a bit of a retread. But I think it’s fair to say that none of Tony’s friends are safe.

MARVEL

Drax The Destroyer

Drax The Destroyer

How safe are they: He’s got a seriously personal beef with Thanos and he’s not exactly the smartest guardian of the galaxy. If any of the main guardians are on the chopping block, it’s probably Drax.

MARVEL

Spider-Man

Spider-Man

How safe are they: So there are Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland planned, but these are comic book movies, characters die and come back all the time. Also, like, let’s face it, this is a kid that let Tony Stark take him to space. He is not safe.

MARVEL

Nebula

Nebula

How safe are they: Nebula plays a huge role in the Infinity Gauntlet comic (I won’t spoil it). And like Drax, she’s heading into Infinity War with a big grudge against Thanos. I’d say her fate’s a bit up in the air.

MARVEL

Vision

Vision

How safe are they: Not safe at all. He’s got an Infinity Stone in his freaking head. He’s not going to have a good time.

MARVEL

Valkyrie

Valkyrie

How safe are they: When we last saw Valkyrie, she was onboard the Asgardian refugee ship. I feel like she’s a little safer than the rest of them, but I sort of have a feeling Asgardians are not going to do to well in Infinity War.

MARVEL

The Asgardian refugees

The Asgardian refugees

How safe are they: Considering we literally saw Thanos’ ship pass over them at the end of Ragnarok, I’d say, NOT SAFE AT ALL!

MARVEL

The Collector

The Collector

How safe are they: Well, The Collector has been holding on to the Reality Stone since the Second Dark Elf Conflict from Thor: The Dark World. I don’t see The Collector putting up much of a fight against Thanos. I think he might be a goner.

MARVEL

Iron Man

Iron Man

How safe are they: I feel like a lot of fans have spent the months leading up to Infinity War arguing about whether Iron Man or Captain America will be the big death. Seeing as how Iron Man is the flagship character of the MCU, I think it’s a little less likely that he dies. But I still think it’s really freaking likely. The only thing more unsafe than being a friend of Tony’s is being Tony.

MARVEL

The Winter Soldier

The Winter Soldier

How safe are they: This one is tricky. I think Bucky is on the chopping block, for sure. But I also think it would be weird for the character to literally be put on ice for all of Phase 3 only to be unfrozen and then killed off in Infinity War. That said, I think the only thing more devastating than a Bucky death would be…

MARVEL

Captain America

Captain America

How safe are they:— Captain America is done for. In the Infinity Gauntlet comic (where pretty much every character dies, except for like Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, and Adam Warlock), Cap is the last man standing. But then he dies. Also, Marvel, historically, has a few favorite characters they like to kill off for dramatic effect; Professor X, Magneto, Captain America, etc. Also, Chris Evans has been pretty vocal about the fact he’s leaving the MCU after Avengers 4. I assume we get one last “I can do this all day,” and then it’s lights out for Cap.

MARVEL

Loki

Loki

How safe are they: I think the only character more in danger than Captain America is Loki. He’s in debt to Thanos. He’s got the Space Stone with him on the Asgardian refugee ship. He’s reconciled with Thor. Also, there’s a rumor going around that Infinity War has a huge death right at the beginning. Seeing as how Thanos in the trailer has the Space Stone already in his gauntlet, means he visits Loki first. Loki’s a goner.
