A Stylist Told Me Every Boot Trend Celebs Will Be Wearing This Fall

In our Ask a Stylist series, we’re tapping a new expert each month to weigh in with all of their style insights. Return each week for a professional’s perspective on what to know in fashion.

Fall is almost here, which means one thing: I can’t stop thinking about boots. I’ll admit that I already have a pretty solid collection of boots, but I tend to invest in a new pair once fall rolls around because they end up being a staple I wear on repeat for six months out of the year. Curious to zero in on which fall boot trends are about to be big, I chatted with celebrity stylist Dani Michelle to find out which boots are on her radar—and which key silhouettes she’s be styling her clients like Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian in for the upcoming season.

“While there are styles that never go out and you can find every season,” Dani Michelle explained, “I’m seeing more and more of these trends styled into looks that are completing the moment.” And the moment includes some jaw-dropping boots that are already in rotation in her clients’ wardrobes. Styles like sleek knee-highs and cowboy boots are already blowing up, while tall flat boots and wedges are poised to be huge in the coming months. Here, see six fall boot trends Dani Michelle predicts will be big for fall 2021.

A core staple that comes back each season, knee-high boots are the style you should add to your closet if you haven’t already. While we saw them styled with trousers in past seasons, pair them with a mini or midi skirt headed into fall.

The fall boot trend already taking over on TikTok and the celeb set? Cowboy boots. Whether you opt for a knee-high pair of ankle boot style, you truly can’t go wrong.

If you gravitate toward sleek boot shapes and already have pointed shoes in your closet, square-toe boots are the next style to try. Still sleek, but a bit more architectural, these make any outfit feel directional and cool.

If you’re after both comfort and style, the tall flat boot trend was made for you. Style it with anything from micro hemlines to long trench coats or knit dresses.

Platforms made a huge impact on the F/W 21 runways in general, but all eyes are on the platform boots that are carving themselves out as one of the biggest trends for the upcoming season.

Controversial? Yes. Cool? Also yes. You’ll spot wedge boots in the fall collections of designers like Amina Muaddi and Off-White, which is a solid indication they’re about to be in every celeb’s closet soon.
