9 Current Fall Jacket Trends I Just Found Secondhand for Under $100

If you’re not shopping for vintage or secondhand leather jackets, you’re missing out. On a recent quest to find a new fall jacket, I stumbled upon so many insanely good vintage and pre-loved finds that I just had to dedicate a whole story to it. The best part is that these jackets lean into some of this season’s biggest trends—think ’90s minimalist leather blazers, retro aviator jackets, and shearling toppers that, in addition to being environmentally friendly, are unique one-offs so you can be sure that no one else will own the same piece. Moreover, who doesn’t love that special thrill that comes from giving an old garment new life?

Over the past decade, I’ve honed my skills as a vintage buyer—unearthing one-of-a-kind secondhand gems at vintage markets, thrift stores, Etsy, and rental/pre-loved sites and apps—that I’ve graduated from a novice to a seasoned professional!

So with the cooler weather upon us, below, I’m sharing the biggest jacket trends that you will be so excited to score vintage. And the best part? They’re all under $100.

Leather jackets are having a major moment this season (as you’ll see throughout this story), but one of this season’s most popular iterations is heavy-duty leather. Think perfectly worn-in, distressed, and vintage jackets that have an edgy sensibility. They come in a range of styles and silhouettes from leather blazers to bomber jackets.

Bomber jackets are one of fall’s biggest jacket trends—seen in full full force on the F/W 22 runways—from oversize iterations at Isabel Marant to suede cropped styles at Miu Miu. This is undoubtedly one of the coolest and easy-to-wear jackets of the season.

A mainstay in our year-round wardrobes, relaxed and oversize blazers continue their dominance this season. Trust me—there are plenty of quality vintage options that don’t cost a fortune.

It’s not fall without a generous dose of fuzzy fabrics, from shearling to faux fur. On the runways, we saw a variety of jackets replete with plush and cozy collars.

Add a touch of elegance to your ensemble and opt for a Chanel-inspired tweed or boucle jacket this fall. They add an expensive-looking touch to every outfit.

Trench coats are timeless yet trend-forward at the same time. They’re the perfect topper for the pleasant fall temps.

As I mentioned earlier, there’s plenty of leather styles to suit every sartorial taste this season. We’re seeing biker and moto silhouettes, in particular, reign supreme.

This sumptuous fabric always crops up at this time of the year. On the fall runways, we spotted velvet suits in a variety of gorgeous colors—which is making us want to add a plush velvet blazer to our carts pronto.

The fashion crowd can’t get enough of the minimalist ’90s trend right now. Opt for sleek leather blazer to lean into the look.
