The books were incredible and the characters were funny, loveable and charming. Then we got the hot garbage of a film that cast actors in their twenties despite the characters being 12. All the characters were ruined, but Annabeth suffered most of all. What happened to our badass, super-smart heroine? She’s one of the few blonde female characters that I’ve encountered who was accepted as being more intelligent than anyone else, breaking a misogynistic stereotype that all blondes are dumb. And what do the films do? Go and make her brunette. They didn’t get a single thing right.
