13 Must-Have Fashion Basics I Feel Really Good About Buying

Like many, I started out the year with a bunch of New Year’s resolutions. And while a couple of them have already fallen off my list, I’ve managed to stay true to two very important goals: Shop less often, and shop more consciously. I’ve been hitting my local thrift store more frequently, buying things off of friends, and noticing the materials that actually go into what I’m buying so I can invest in quality pieces. And it’s as if Amazon knew exactly what I was up to because weeks into my more sustainable shopping excursion, it announced the launch of its latest brand: Amazon Aware. The new collection is an assortment of carbon-neutral fashion, beauty, and home products at a surprisingly affordable price point. I’m partial to the apparel (of course) and have already added a few laid-back and comfortable (but chic) pieces to my cart. Want to see the items I’m loving? Keep scrolling.

First of all, this sweater looks so much more expensive than $39. I love the idea of wearing it under a faux-leather trench with some booties, but it would be equally chic with comfy pants and slippers. It does it all.

Shorts are slowly creeping into my wardrobe rotation with the warmer weather coming in. These are great for a coffee run or a jog outside.

Every closet needs an easy black tee.

Oh, and a white one, of course.

Another men’s piece that will be added to my cart.

I’m 100% pairing these brown pants with some retro sneakers, a cropped tee or hoodie, and some square sunnies. Effortlessly cool.

I am a big lover of shackets, and this white one is no exception. Buttoned up or left open, it’s a fantastic transitional piece for spring.

The subtle puff sleeve is a fun touch.

I’ll be sleeping in this every night.
