“American Gods” finally has a premiere date – and some atmospheric key art!
The new series, based on the bestseller from Neil Gaiman, and from showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green will debut on Starz on Sunday, April 30 at 9 PM ET/PT.
Season 1 will span eight episodes, and stars “The 100” alum Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday. Both actors are featured in the new key art, which sees them leaning against a car next to a neon sign that says “American Gods.”
The show will have its world premiere at Austin’s SXSW festival in March.
“American Gods” follows Shadow Moon, who after getting out prison, ends up working for Mr. Wednesday after an unusual meeting. But, Mr. Wednesday isn’t an ordinary man. He’s described as “a powerful deity, on a cross-country mission to build and reclaim his lost glory,” per Starz. The world of “American Gods” is set to a backdrop of a brewing conflict between the old and new gods.
The series also features Gillian Anderson, who is playing Media, Kristin Chenoweth as Easter, Jonathan Tucker as Low Key, Cloris Leachman as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare as Czerbog, Chris Obi as Anubis, Demore Barnes as Mr. Ibis, Corbin Bernsen as Vulcan and Mousa Kraish as The Jinn.
