YNW Melly will stand trial on March 7, 2022 for double murder.
The rapper is being held after he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in February 2019 for allegedly shooting YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. His attorneys asked for a speedy trial.
The prosecution is also asking for the rapper’s DNA with an oral swab in to try and match DNA found at the crime scene where he allegedly shot and killed his friends YNW Juvy (Christopher Thomas Jr.) and YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Thomas) in October 2018.
Months ago YNY Melly shared with fans that he had his privileges revoked for three months after posting to Instagram.
“To all my fans i love y’all and truly appreciate y’all,” YNW Melly wrote. “the broward county main jail lieutenant had confiscated my gucci shoes and my gucci sock / headband due to the promotion video i posted for my album in just a matter of slime last Friday and they have took my video visitation privileges for 90 days so i cannot interact with my family and fans through video visit.”
