I’m going to be honest with you: Writing about beauty has made me a lot pickier about my bodycare routine . It just comes with the territory. I’ve learned a lot about what ingredients are generally winners and which ones to avoid, but I’ve also just learned a lot about what my skin does and doesn’t tolerate. My skin is actually pretty sensitive and doesn’t always react well to harsh or heavy ingredients in body lotions so I decided it was time to go the organic route.
Just to clarify, products labeled as “organic” usually still have some kind of synthetic ingredients in them to preserve and stabilize the formula. Synthetic ingredients don’t automatically equal bad. But it is nice to use a body lotion or two that isn’t loaded with dyes, parabens, or strong fragrances. I’ve tried quite a few natural body lotions over the years and I can say with confidence that the ones on this list are the best—especially if you’re like me and have sensitive skin. For the best natural body lotions and oils to incorporate into your routine, take a peek below and find your new favorite.
Avalon offers high-quality organic products at an affordable price point. This nourishing lavender hand and body lotion adds a major boost of hydration to dry skin with botanical and essential oils.
I’ve used a ton of Eminence products over the years, and I can say that they never disappoint. The brand’s rich body cream replenishes skin’s moisture overnight with monoi, an argan stem cell complex, shea butter, and jojoba oil.
If you’re a fan of celeb-loved brand True Botanicals and its popular Renew Serum, you’ll love its rich body butter packed with organic ingredients, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids.
I love Sky Organics with all my heart. The brand’s simple, organic formulas are just so good. A few of my favorite body moisturizers from the brand include sweet almond oil and grape-seed oil. They leave my skin feeling baby soft without being even the slightest bit greasy. As a bonus, most of its formulas come in under the $20 mark, too.
I never stop talking about this organic body oil from RMS Beauty. It contains nourishing oils and adaptogenic herbs to soothe the skin and leave it extra hydrated. It also has a light and delicious vanilla scent to it that I just can’t get enough of.
Clearly, I rotate between quite a few different organic body moisturizers, but I always find myself reaching for Carter + Jane formulas the most. The brand’s oil butter formulation is thick, but it comes in a variety of incredible scents and leaves your skin hydrated and supple for 24+ hours. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with this new pumpkin rendition of the oil butter. It smells like fall in a bottle.
SheaMoisture offers great budget-friendly formulas with nourishing organic ingredients. The star ingredient in this daily hydrating lotion is 100% virgin coconut oil.
Osea’s body balm is a fan favorite because it combines the lasting hydration of a lotion with the youth-enhancing ingredients of a serum. Standout ingredients include alaria seaweed to improve the appearance of skin elasticity along with skin-softening passion fruit, coconut, açai, and babassu oil.
Love Beauty and Planet is another great drugstore brand that utilizes nourishing organic ingredients. This Soothe & Serene Lotion is infused with argan oil and heirloom French Lavender for a luxurious post-shower experience.
Weleda offers a great organic option for those with extra dry skin. Sure, it’s a tad on the thick side, but it doesn’t leave an overly greasy residue and it keeps skin hydrated for so long.
This is another favorite in my rotation of clean body butters. With high concentrations of organic shea butter, antioxidant-rich mango butter, essential fatty acids, and vitamins, it deeply nourishes the skin. I always feel like I just got a luxurious body wrap at the spa after using it—no joke.
I always appreciate Nécessaire products because the ingredient lists are kept pretty trim, but they’re still packed with skin boosters like omega fatty acids, niacinamide, and antioxidants. The body lotion in particular is also fragrance-free and great for sensitive skin.
Tata Harper is the queen of organic skincare and bodycare products. Tata and Henry Harper grow the ingredients for the brand’s products right on their own farm so you know you’re getting high-quality, well-sourced ingredients. It’s hard to pick a favorite among the rich bodycare line, but this balm firms, provides major hydration, and reduces the appearance of stretch marks.
Another great budget option is Alba Botanica’s Very Emollient Lotion. It’s hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and is packed with plant-based ingredients great for dry skin.
Klur is another organically-sourced brand I’m completely in love with. The brand’s Supreme Seed mask is a holy-grail item for me, but its Elements of Comfort Body Oil deserves some major attention, too. Organic hempseed, avocado, and grapeseed oils deliver reparative hydration and nutrients to the skin. It also smells amazing with the uplifting scent of neroli, Bulgarian rose, and French lavender.
