According to a new book, former President Donald Trump wanted to send all Americans who tested positive for COVID-19 to Guantanamo Bay.
The claims were made in “Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History,” a new book by Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta.
“Don’t we have an island that we own?” the president reportedly asked in the Situation Room in February 2020, before the U.S. outbreak. “What about Guantánamo?”
“We import goods,” Trump added. “We are not going to import a virus.”
The Guantanamo Bay detention camp is a United States military prison located within Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, also referred to as Guantánamo.
TRUMP LOVES THE WOMEN
In February, before the virus swept through the country, Trump downplayed the virus.
“Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” Trump said. “They have no clue, they can’t even count their votes in Iowa. This is their new hoax,”
Trump later tested positive for the virus.
