‘The View’ – From Legal Notes to Blaming the Family Cat

Remember the “Twinkie Defense?”

Former San Francisco County Supervisor Dan White’s lawyers said he killed San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and County Supervisor Harvey Milk because he had eaten too many Twinkies and suffered from a “diminished mental capacity.”

White only spent five years in jail as a result.

Just a few months ago we saw the “Knucklehead Defense.” That’s when wannabe Vice President Tim Walz explained away his serial lies by calling himself a knucklehead.

According to the Nov. 5 election results, the strategy failed.

Now, Whoopi Goldberg has a new variation on this theme. The cat made me do it! Is this the dawn of the “Whiskers Defense?”

“The View” ringleader uncorked her latest conspiracy theory this week, once again targeting the GOP. Goldberg previously argued that Donald Trump would forcibly separate interracial couples and be a dictator on Day One of his second term.

The former is pure tinfoil hat-speak while the latter is an intentional misinterpretation of a Trump quip.

Now, Goldberg and her fellow far-Leftists insist that President-Elect Trump isn’t even in charge. It’s all about Elon Musk, the new progressive bogeyman.

She argued Musk is wielding outsized control over the upcoming Trump administration, and he’s doing so with Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance’s cooperation.

Even by Goldberg’s standards, the following commentary is unhinged. The invaluable NewsBusters captured the conversation that led to Goldberg’s prediction.

JOY BEHAR: Well, you’ve called [Musk] vice president.

GOLDBERG: I’ve called him vice president. I’ve called him president because I don’t know what J.D. is doing. I hardly ever — I don’t remember the last time we even talked about J.D.

SUNNY HOSTIN: You’re right.

BEHAR: He’s planning the presidency when they get rid of Trump.

GOLDBERG: So, you think it’s Musk/Vance?

BEHAR: Possible.

Goldberg swooped in with the rhetorical kill shot or, in her case, the plea for a mental health intervention.

“Hey, [Trump], stay away from the stairways. Because, you know, people put their leg out to trip you going down the stairs. Watch out,” Goldberg proclaimed.

The “View” mainstay must have gotten some network feedback during the commercial break. She returned to the program offering a mea culpa of sorts.

“Okay, I need to clean something up because my cat lays in wait for me on my stairs all the time and that’s what I was referring — I was thinking of that. I wasn’t trying to indicate that they were actually standing there with their legs out hoping he would trip,” she claimed.

“The View” hosts are always “cleaning something up.” Most news shows don’t have to correct the record over and over. Not every news show suggests family members ban loved ones from their holiday meals if they voted the “wrong” way, either.

Earlier this month the show hosts read a barrage of “legal notes” after slamming various people tied to the upcoming Trump administration.

“The View’s” unprofessional, unhinged rhetoric isn’t new.

What is new is that President Elect-Trump isn’t taking these attacks lightly. He just settled with ABC News for $16 million after the network’s morning news anchor incorrectly said multiple times that Trump had been found liable for rape.

It’s a lie, and ABC News paid dearly for it.

Team Trump is also targeting an Iowa pollster whose last-minute survey was off by a whopping 16 points.

It may take more than a Whiskers Defense to stave off a Trump lawsuit if “The View” continues on its current course.
