Rosie HW's Autumn Capsule Consists of These 8 Easy Basics

If I could trade wardrobes with anyone—and I really do mean anyone—I would trade with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Before the minimalist aesthetic was as prevalent as it is now, she was paving the way, favouring forever pieces in place of the short-lifespan trends that often prove all too tempting to other stars being courted by big, flashy brands. I can scroll three years into her Instagram feed, and not a single thing will feel dated, which is proof that she has an eye for a hardworking staple. (Her closet is built on the likes of Totême, Bottega Veneta, and The Row.)

That’s not to say, however, that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley only ever wears well-known, high-end designers. Through her Instagram feed, I discovered brands I didn’t previously know. Marcéla London, for one, has become one of my favourites. She’s also a fan of Bec & Bridge, the Australian label I’ve bought a couple of my most-worn dresses from. She’s known to find the chicest-looking pieces from Zara, too.

So, naturally, when looking for inspiration for my winter wardrobe, I head straight to Huntington-Whiteley’s social media and begin saving down my favourite looks. During this process, I’ve quickly identified the key pieces that make up her autumn/winter capsule wardrobe. Because I try to be a nice person, I’ve decided to share them with you below. Scroll on to see the winter trends and pieces Rosie Huntington-Whiteley relies on.

Style Notes: Huntington-Whiteley knows that embracing the oversized fashion trend can make your outfits look more expensive in the process. Take this blazer, for example. Had it been more tapered, it wouldn’t have had the same effortless aesthetic.

The blazer that comes with our editors’ stamp of approval.

The asymmetric fastening sets this blazer apart from others on the market.

Style Notes: Perhaps the most of-the-moment piece in her outfit rotation is a pair of cargo trousers. Though it’s integral to the Y2K aesthetic that’s currently sweeping TikTok, she ensures hers look glossy by honing in on a premium fabric in a muted colourway.

As classic as cargos come.

I give it two seconds before Rosie snaps these up.

Style Notes: Knitted dresses are a mainstay in many winter wardrobes, but Huntington-Whiteley embraced them before they became the staple they are today. She still wears hers every autumn, which encourages me to do the same.

Rosie regularly wears dresses with sweetheart necklines.

Long-sleeve styles will keep you warmer on the chillest of days.

Style Notes: Everything she wears has the ability to be styled in a multitude of ways, and one item that certainly couldn’t be more true of is the racer vest. You’ll see her wear hers with everything from tailored trousers to straight-leg jeans, leather shorts to midi skirts, under shirts and as a base layer for knitwear.

I really like the slouchy fit of this vest top.

You needn’t spend a fortune on this staple—H&M has some of the best vests out there.

Style Notes: As a mum of two, Rosie has a knack for zeroing in on quick outfit solutions that look chic but take next to no thought to assemble. Cue her collection of co-ords. Right now, she seems to be especially into those of the plissé-pleat variety.

Rosie’s vibe, but at a fraction of the cost.

A great option for pure minimalists.

Style Notes: When temperatures dip, she embraces the chill, seeing it as the perfect opportunity to dust off one of her many impressive tailored coats. Handily, some of the season’s best have just dropped—I know this & Other Stories beauty will sell out before December.

Such a classic.

The definition of a never-date coat.

Style Notes: What would winter be without a cosy knit? Though Rosie has plenty at her disposal, I’ve noticed she always invests in knitwear in muted hues, ensuring they have maximum versatility.

Such a beautiful weave.

This looks so high-end.

Style Notes: Although she does wear jeans, you’re more likely to see her sporting a pair of tailored trousers, including on her days off. This preference means she always looks polished, even when she pairs them with white trainers and a casual padded jacket.

I always head to H&M for affordable tailoring.

The pleated waistband makes these look even more elevated.
