Robert Durst, star of the HBO docuseries “The Jinx” has been found guilty of murdering Susan Berman, his former best friend.
Durst’s first wife, Kathie disappeared in 1982 and people thought that Berman helped him cover up his wife’s disappearance and death. But when prosecutors reached out to seak with Berman about Kathie’s death years later — Durst flew to Los Angeles and murdered her.
He then left a note for police, giving them Berman’s address and the word “cadaver,” written in his handwriting.
In the documentary, “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst,” he seems to admit that he was caught out by filmmakers towards the end.
Nick Chavin, a friend of Durst’s testified that Durst admitted the crime to him, telling him, “It was her or me. I had no choice.”
In his closing arguments, Habib Balian, one of the prosecutors, said : “The case can be summed up in nine simple words. ‘It was her or me. I had no choice.’ That says it all.”
