Paul Schrader Attacks Twitter CEO Elon Musk For Embracing Free Speech

The Modern Left is having a terrible, horrible, no good week.

Billionaire Elon Musk officially took over Twitter, a social media giant renowned for censorship and political bias. Musk quickly cleaned house, firing key officials who oversaw the platform’s censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story and more.

He also plans to erase permanent bans for many ex-users.

Musk, to his credit, hopes to change that atmosphere. That’s made him Enemy No. 1 for both the press and Leftists. Select corners of Hollywood aren’t happy, either.

Here’s one example:

Consider Paul Schrader example number two.

The acclaimed filmmaker (“Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull,” “First Reformed“) used his Facebook perch to blast Musk’s Twitter acquisition.

Schrader’s views, reflected by many of his Facebook followers, aren’t shocking. Today’s Hollywood is wary of free speech, eager to embrace woke restrictions and happy to silence their political opponents.

Consider how Hollywood, Inc. cheered when tech giants banned President Donald Trump nearly two years ago.

The industry has lost its way. The same artists who relive the McCarthy era through film after film see no problem with censoring some voices in the modern era.

Schrader recently had a spate of bad health, pushing him to the brink of death. He’s made a wonderful recovery and hopes to direct again should the financing fall his way.

He used the film festival release of his latest directorial effort, “Master Gardener,” to thank western culture for his career.

“I have been blessed living in a bubble of creative freedom [emphasis added], affluence, leisure time, peace and good health,” Schrader wrote.

For Schrader, not all creative freedom matters, alas.
