Nipsey Hussle’s alleged killer Eric R. Holder Jr., has been given a trial date.
Holder’s trial will begin on January 5th, 2022.
Holder has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of felony possession of a firearm. Prosecutors allege that Holder ran up on Nipsey, who was standing in front of his Marathon Clothing Store in March 2019, and confronted him over rumors he was a snitch. He then left before returning and opening fire on Nipsey.
Holder’s lawyer Aaron Jansen, told Rolling Stone “he’s nervous, but he knows it’s time to get the case moving to trial.”
“One of the things affecting him [in March 2019] was that his mother had just passed away,” his lawyer said in June. “He was pretty despondent.” While speaking to Rolling Stone, he added that Holder was experiencing “a substantial mental health issue” on the day of Nipsey’s death because he was “off his medication.”
