There is just something about a dress that I absolutely love. Dresses make me feel stylish and put-together, and they make the styling process just a little easier. It’s one piece, and you can just throw on a dress and know that you look good. I’ve been known to wear a different dress for seven days in a row, so yeah, it’s safe to say I’m a dress person. If I’m being honest, the real reason I love dresses is that they’re so comfortable and sometimes can feel like glorified nightgowns, and I love it.
Over the years, I have acquired a pretty extensive dress collection, and yes, it’s still growing. I wear dresses literally everywhere—heading to the office, going on a date, meeting up with friends, running errands, going out for the night… If you can name it, I’ve likely worn a dress to it. When it comes to my dresses, there are five dress styles that I gravitate toward over the rest and that I think everyone needs in their dress collection.

I’ve loved body-con dresses for years, and we all remember when the body-con Skims maxi dress (featured above on Cass Dimicco) went viral on TikTok. A good body-con is a must-have. It’s simple and sultry and has a ’90s-nostalgia feel to it. You can style this look with flat sandals or sneakers, a shoulder bag, and vintage sunglasses for a daytime look, or you can pair this dress with sleek mules and a sparkly accessory for something a little more glam.
If I could wear a satin maxi dress every day, I think I would. Remember when I said some dresses are like glorified nightgowns? I’d file this look under that category. Style with layered necklaces, simple earrings, and sleek heels for a minimal yet elevated look. Perfect for a party in the summertime.
There’s nothing better than putting on an amazing minidress when getting ready for a night out with your friends. To me, it’s the ultimate party look, and I always have so much fun shopping for new ones to add to my collection. This cutout House of CB dress that Emma Leger styled with a sparkly Staud bag and platform Versace shoes is absolutely everything.
Nothing says dainty, romantic, and sweet like a daytime floral dress. I’m into the cottagecore vibes this style of dress has, and I usually style my floral-printed dresses with sneakers or flat sandals and a straw bag. It works for brunch, a park day, or a trip to the farmers market.
I’m dubbing this the “little-white-dress summer.” It’s a look that never fails. You can go for any hem length as well, but when it comes to white dresses, I usually opt for something a bit shorter. It’s a great look for day or night, and you can style it with basically any footwear.
