Podcaster Joe Rogan says he will walk away from Spotify if he has to filter everything he says.
“I will quit. If it gets to a point that I can’t do it anymore, where I have to do it in some sort of weird way where I walk on eggshells and mind my p’s and q’s, f*ck that!” Rogan said. “There’s more people poring over it but it’s the same thing. I do it the same way.”
Rogan got dragged and nearly canceled after clips of him using the n-word went viral. Spotify would not drop him and Rogan apologized.
“I know that to most people there is no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, never mind publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that now,” Rogan said in the video.
“I was also talking about how there’s not another word like it in the English language because it’s a word where only one group of people is allowed to use it — and they can use it in so many different ways,” he said added. “If a white person uses it, it’s racist, it’s toxic. But a Black person can use it and it can be a punchline, it can be a term of endearment, it can be lyrics to a rap song, it can be a positive affirmation.”
