Jake Paul is facing misdemeanor charges for his alleged part in the riot in Arizona’s Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall back in May 2020.
The teens say they were there protesting the death of George Floyd.
According to TMZ, the city attorney has decided to refile charges after the Feds dropped their case against him.
“Based upon the investigation and evidence available at this time, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona is not pursuing federal charges against Jake Paul for his conduct,” they said in an official statement.
If convicted, Paul could face up to a year in jail.
Jake denied that he and his crew were looting.
“To be absolutely clear, neither I nor anyone in our group was engaged in any looting or vandalism,” he said in a statement on Twitter, adding that he and his crew were “strictly documenting, not engaging.”
He said they were “peacefully protest one of the most horrific injustices our country has ever seen.”
