Style is one of the only things my Mom and I have ever really clashed on. While we have the same overall vision, individual purchases can be hard to settle on. Growing up, I was always stealing her clothes and diving into her closet but as we’ve gotten older, we’ve done a split in personal style. Yet there are still many things we can agree on when it comes to fashion, especially the basics. If I want to know whether or not an item is truly timeless I’ll ask her about it because I know if we both like it I’ll definitely still be wearing it for many years to come.
During my recent trip home, we decided to conduct a little experiment. An extensive scroll through Nordstrom’s new arrivals led us to multiple debates about whether or not an item passed both of our approvals. We came to the agreement that wide-leg jeans, feminine blouses, flirty dresses, and cool accessories were definitely on our shopping lists for summer. “Many women my age like to cover their arms so the fact that this top comes with a puffed sleeve is nice.”
“This is a pair of sunglasses that I would wear if I wanted to go for a jog, play some tennis, or walk. It’s nice to have a pair of sunglasses that stay on your face.”
“I like that it’s longer for more coverage.”

“That’s nice for a summer evening out or party.”

“Those are cute. Why is everything high-waisted now? When I go to the store everything is high-waisted. I’m here for the low-rise movement.”

“I think mid-rise is more comfortable since I’m really not trying to show my stomach so I don’t need a high rise.”
“They’re cute. I’d love to take them on my upcoming yoga retreat in Spain.”
