I'm an Outfit-Repeating Editor—5 Fresh Ways I'm Wearing This Classic Buy in 2024

In the world of fashion, some pieces transcend fleeting trends and become timeless classics. Khaite’s Scarlet Cardigan (£1750) is undoubtedly one such item, seamlessly blending modern style with a touch of vintage allure. Since its debut, this cult item has captured the hearts of fashion people everywhere—myself included. The cardigan’s relaxed silhouette and elevated details can be seen in the craftspersonship and is what sets it apart from all other cardigans I’ve tried over the years. This is no doubt why it has become the seasonal staple in my wardrobe.

Now, this particular cardigan may come with a high price tag, but you can’t argue with its “investment piece” status. Its versatility allows me to experiment with different outfits and create looks that reflect my taste, which has always been quite classic. Whether I’m aiming to achieve casual elegance or polished sophistication, this cardigan never fails to adapt to my style; I can drape it over a simple T-shirt and jeans for a laid-back weekend look and can also pair it with a silk slip dress for evening occasions. I could go on…

To show just how much I have this piece on rotation in my wardrobe, I’ve put together my favourite five outfits that feature it below. Keep scrolling for some good old outfit inspo. You’re welcome!

Style Notes: I’ve created a tonal ensemble by pairing the cardigan with brown knitted trousers and a turtleneck in a similar shade. This sleek and streamlined look exudes sophistication, but with the Ugg boots, it also fits into the undone and cosy category.

Super soft and super chic.

These are my most complimented knitted trousers.

Us millennials will always claim Uggs, no matter what Gen Z say.

Style Notes: I love wearing the cardigan as a substitute for a blazer when I head into the office. Here, I paired it with black wide-leg trousers, an oversized white T-shirt and trainers.

Crisp and clean.

I can’t fault these classic wide-leg trousers from COS. They’re a staple in my wardrobe.

A debonair sneaker.

Style Notes: Using the cardigan as a layering piece is one of my favourite ways to style it. Here, I’m wearing head-to-toe neutrals whilst the cardigan hangs loosely over my shoulders, giving it a more relaxed feel. I’ve finished it off with some crisp white loafers for a sophisticated edge.

So, so soft. Did I mention it’s soft?

I love the COS trousers so much that I have them in every colour. This cream pair is perfect for an all neutral outfit.

I can’t wait for the weather to get better so I can bring these out to play more.

Style Notes: Here, I’ve paired it with a super-slouchy T-shirt dress for a cooler yet still “feminine” appearance. The oversized silhouette, pockets and Adidas Samba sneakers (the trending trainers loved by basically everyone right now), give this high-luxury cardigan a casual edge.

My favourite purchase of last summer was this Raey T-shirt dress. The jersey material makes it the perfect layering piece for the colder months, too.

They’re so popular that my grey, suede-trimmed pair are sold out, but these black-trimmed ones are super similar.

Style Notes: For my final look, I’ve paired the cardigan with some oversized, high-waisted mom jeans and a black cashmere turtleneck. This is effortless elegance at its best; no overthinking required. And what better way to finish a denim look than with a pair of Gucci Horsebit loafers?

Uniqlo will always be my go-to for elevated basics.

Add a belt to cinch in the waist and these jeans are just *chef’s kiss*.

Simply, a classic.
