I’m a Personal Stylist—16 Cool Finds I’m Recommending for Spring

On a recent scroll through TikTok, Ilana Torbiner’s videos made me pause to watch. On her TikTok account, @ilanatorbiner, she chats through outfits she is wearing as well as her latest shopping recommendations, which span from new-in Khaite boots to vintage finds she has uncovered on The RealReal. And there are more shopping recommendations on her Instagram account, @ilanatorbiner, where she similarly shares shopping finds and answers questions about everything from cool rehearsal-dinner dresses to where to track down sold-out-everywhere bags from The Row.

Since my shopping list has grown exponentially longer since tuning in, I was curious to chat with Torbiner to find out more about her career in fashion. Previously working in influencer marketing at CAA and The New York Times, Torbiner has transitioned to personal styling, which came about organically after she got married. “I have always shared a bit of my style on social, and after my wedding, other brides began reaching out to me about bridal styling. I started sharing more consistently on TikTok and began receiving positive feedback,” she tells Who What Wear. “While I still love working with bridal and event clients, I have expanded to day-to-day wardrobe styling.”

Torbiner now works with clients who either don’t have time to shop or are interested in developing and defining their personal style. “I spend much of my time sourcing pre-loved and vintage pieces and walking through clients’ closets (virtually) to see where I can be of the most help. My intention is to provide my clients and followers with the tools and pieces to make getting dressed easy,” she says.

Whether or not you book a styling session, keep scrolling to see the top finds from Torbiner’s closet and the cool pieces she’s recommending for spring.

“Sophie Buhai makes the most beautiful, timeless pieces. I love everything she creates, and this Mermaid Choker is no exception. The agate beads and freshwater pearl feel appropriate heading into spring and summer.”

“Flore Flore makes the best cotton basics—simple and modern. I live in their pieces.”

“I love a good tube top, and the curved neckline on the Khaite Jericho Top makes it feel current while remaining minimalistic.”

“If you’re looking to invest in a boot, I can’t recommend the Khaite Arizona boot enough. The kitten heels give a touch of height while still remaining comfortable, and the shape makes them wearable all year round.”

“A perfect black maxi skirt is hard to find, and I love the relaxed shape (and price) of this UNIF skirt. It can be dressed up or down and feels like you’re in pajamas.”

“We all know silver is having a moment, and what better way to incorporate it into your wardrobe than with the iconic Elsa Peretti Bean? Wear it with any strapless or square neckline to easily take your look to the next level.”

“I love an open-toe, comfortable sandal, and these Reformation wedges will take me from day to night and remind me of the Bottega Stretch Mules.”

“I believe everyone should have a good black vest in their closet, and this one from SIR is as good as it gets. I love pairing it with denim or a maxi skirt.”

“A new belt is a great way to freshen up your spring wardrobe, and this one from Khaite will perfectly complement any all-denim look.”

“I can’t wait for winter to be over so I can pull out my Dragon Diffusion bag. I have my eye on this laid-back basket version.”

“The perfect red, these Bottega Cherry Mules make for an amazing splurge and addition to your spring wardrobe.”

“I love the simplicity of this denim shirt from Loulou Studio.”

“This cashmere tank is a perfect transitional piece. It can be worn under a blazer or alone with denim.”

“One of my favorite spring staples is a trouser-style maxi skirt.”

“This brown suede ballet mule is the answer to your spring shoe search.”

“The vintage-style fit of these jeans is just perfect, and the classic blue and bone washes feel timeless.”
