I’m a Fashion Editor—These Are the 8 Brands I’m Excited About for 2023

As a fashion editor, it is inevitably one of my responsibilities to discover exciting, upcoming, or existing brands that may not be available to you locally or sold at one of your chosen retailers. All day long, I’m perusing Instagram and TikTok bookmarking brands I love, or hearing about amazing brands from other editors or industry insiders.

Below, I’ve put together a selection of the brands I’m most excited about following, seeing new collections from, and shopping this year. This includes an Australian accessories brand that is popping up on your favorite celebs, a modern jewelry brand that all my fellow editors are wearing to the office, and a sustainable knitwear brand that makes quality look second nature.

Discover, explore, and shop these brands below.

Jewelry brand Jenny Bird has quickly become a fashion-editor favorite, myself included. The Canadian brand is known for its bold hoop earrings but also carries additional twists on classic pieces. The brand’s jewelry is modern, wearable, and affordable, a winning combination.

Australian accessories label Poppy Lissiman has quickly grown a place in my maximalist-dressing heart (and closet). With the coolest eyewear (seen on some of your celebrity style idols) and conversation-starter handbags, this brand is only growing more exciting. Just ask Justin Bieber.

An industry favorite, L.A.-based brand Simon Miller is known for an amalgamation of colorful, patterned, and textured pieces that lend themselves to a mod, California aesthetic. From its playful bubble clogs to its bold ready-to-wear collections, there’s always something inspiring coming from Creative Director Chelsea Hansford.

Handmade knitwear that you will want to live in is courtesy of Aza Ziegler’s brand Calle Del Mar. Locally produced in Los Angeles, Calle Del Mar’s designs are dreamy knit pieces that have a vacation aesthetic. Keep an eye on the sustainable brand for your spring and summer shopping.

African resort wear label Andrea Iyamah is bold, adventurous, and contemporary. Designer Andrea Dumbei Iyamah incorporates cultural elements into a collection of jewel-tone separates, nature-inspired prints, and distinctive swimwear.

Accessories brand Charles & Keith is a vault for the trendiest bags, shoes, and accessories on the market. The brand offers everything from platform Mary Janes to your minimalist shoulder bag, all for a reasonable price point.

Covry is an inclusive eyewear brand breaking the standard of one-size-fits-all in eyewear. Using measurements from real people, founders Athina Wang and Florence Shin have created quality handcrafted opticals and sunglasses that are forging a new niche in eyewear.

Contemporary brand Gauge81 marries a modern, sleek aesthetic with retro references. The brand offers a selection of evening wear and casual pieces that mix together perfectly for the ideal capsule wardrobe.
