In the suburb of Chicago where I grew up, few places were frequented as much as Nordstrom . It was the main hub at our local mall where everyone and their mothers (literally, my mom used to drive me there far too frequently) shopped for everything from True Religion jeans and Free People henleys to Uggs and BCBG prom dresses. I ate lunches at the Nordstrom café with my friends and got my makeup done in the beauty department before my freshman homecoming dance. Suffice to say, the Seattle-based department store holds a special significance to me. So you can imagine that I’m no stranger to its seven-floor, 320,000-square-foot flagship store in New York City .
With the holidays arriving faster than expected, I thought I’d put my familiarity with the store to good use by scouring its hundreds of racks to find the crème de la crème of pieces available. Three-plus hours and one too many caffeine breaks later, I compiled a list of worthy contenders for whoever you’re shopping for right now. Keep scrolling for 42 Nordstrom items you don’t want to miss.
I first picked up this fitted faux-leather button-down from Nanushka because duh and because of its buttery-yellow color, which always has a way of looking really expensive. Then, when this burgundy-colored midi skirt from Ganni caught my eye, I knew they had to go together. Can you blame me?
This top feels just as good as it looks, if not better.
I’m in love.
I’m always on the lookout for good knitwear, especially when it’s chilly out. It just so happened that my rendezvous at Nordstrom took place on one of the first wintry days in New York, so naturally, I made a beeline toward this slouchy and casual yet elevated sweater by Copenhagen-based basics brand Samsøe Samsøe.
This brand is super hard to find in the States, which might be why a lot of people don’t know it yet. Expect that to change now that Nordstrom’s picked it up.
I’ve heard so many good things about Coco and Breezy Eyewear, but I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to try on any pairs from the brand until this week. When I discovered that Nordstrom started selling them, I knew I had to pop by the sunglass section during my next trip. And after I tried on this cat-eye style, it became quite clear what all the hype was about.
I’m never not going to love cat-eye shades.
Going straight from a workout to any other activity is easy when it’s warm out. After all, you can pretty much just wear whatever set you worked out in and call it a day. When it’s chilly, though, there’s more sartorial strategy involved. I love the idea of combining a pair of leggings with a cozy sweater that goes with everything and a shacket. Who knows? Maybe no one will notice that you just worked out.
The shacket is arguably 2021’s most ubiquitous outerwear trend.
I love anything cashmere.
Girlfriend Collective’s stellar leggings are available in sizes XXS to 3X.
I’ve been seeing this bag everywhere for what feels like forever, so when I spotted it at Nordstrom, I had to slide it over my shoulder and photograph the moment.
Staud’s bags are always chic, but this one is a step above the rest in my opinion.
During the holidays, I like to have a few easy pieces that can be thrown on when your friends inevitably ask you to come to a last-minute dinner party or drinks. That way, even if you were cozy in bed when they called, you can still get up and go without too much effort.
You’ll wear this so often.
Never underestimate the power of a good pair of jeans.
If you’d have told me that I’d choose a body-con dress for a story a year ago, I wouldn’t have believed you. But something about 2021’s affinity for smaller, tighter-fitting clothing has me reconsidering my former distaste for them. Plus, there’s something very satisfying about the contrast between a super-tight dress and a puffy, oversize jacket like this vegan-leather one from Nanushka.
I’ve been seeing this vegan-leather puffer all over Instagram, but I have to say that it’s even better IRL.
This dress is giving serious Kim Kardashian vibes.
Anyone who’s tried to get their hands on literally anything designed by Telfar Clemens will understand how major it is that his Ugg collaboration is currently available at Nordstrom. Get a piece while they’re still available.
How adorable are these?
And, of course, these!
I had a co-worker once who bought two pairs of the same Celine sunglasses because they were so good, and he was afraid they’d sell out forever. (They did, and he was thrilled that he had both.) So of course, I had to see what all the hype was about.
Nothing looks as good as Celine feels. Just sayin’.
I own the cream version of this shoulder bag and would buy it in every color if I could.
This button-down is selling out fast.
Finally, a pair of truly stylish leggings .
I see reviews of this T-shirt on TikTok daily.
Sexy and sophisticated.
These will make every outfit better.
I’m in need of a new wallet, and this one is at the top of my list.
Faux-leather pants are a must for winter.
Stunning.
These are too good not to buy.
Everyone needs one of these in their closet.
Cashmere in the winter is a perfect combination.
I’ve already thought of at least a dozen ways to wear this dress.
I’m considering bringing back the XL shoulder bag.
Levi’s Ribcage Jeans are a must.
Of course I want my house to smell like what Maison Margiela thinks a lazy Sunday morning smells like.
You know what to do.
Sometimes, I daydream about this little cashmere bra.
I swear by these.
If you don’t yet know about New York–based designer Brandon Blackwood, you do now.
Ripped jeans with dainty heels are my favorite unexpected style pairing.
Everyone who comes over is going to ask you where you got this candle.
These are a no-brainer.
This set is too chic for words.
There’s almost nothing more luxurious come winter than cashmere gloves.
I swear that everyone on Instagram has this cutout tank top in various colors.
Classic beauties.
