Sun’s out, bum’s out! Well, I mean, kind of. Summer has always been my favorite season due to its long days, short nights, endless sunshine, and summer heat. Throw in a poolside margarita and I am one happy gal. I feel my best in summer and I also feel like I look my best! Glowing with a bronzed tan definitely makes me look more alive than an anemic, porcelain doll in the wintertime.
Swimsuits are among my favorite possessions, and I am always ready for a secret swimming-hole adventure with bathing suits stashed in the back of my car. I also deeply appreciate swimsuits tailored with a curvier body in mind. It’s never fun to make a 20-foot dive off of a cliff and into the water only to discover that your swimsuit top has all but disappeared! Or for the bigger-bummed folks like myself, how about those moments strolling around the pool when you realize that your swimsuit bottom seems to have slipped right into your crack? That has not been one of my crowning moments. So without further adieu, I am going to guide you through my personal summer-approved swimsuit list for the season. Take a look at some of my favorite swimmers and try them for yourselves.
First up, we’ve got that to-die-for strappy trend. I’ll admit, this suit isn’t for the faint-hearted, but when it fits correctly? *Chef’s kiss!*
Next up are one-pieces. These bad boys have been around seemingly forever, and with good reason. They provide coverage and stay in place! Why not go for a funky and colorful print to stand out?
Next, we have the two-piece that is curve hugging and activity-friendly. Two pieces are great for a stomach tan, and they still feel so sassy.
Next up, we have your standard but essential string bikini. These are a staple in every beach-goers wardrobe, and for good reason. They are no-frills, give you almost no tan lines, and are generally a no-brainer.
And lastly, another of my favorite swim styles for this summer is the drawstring suit. These swimsuits are customizable! You can pull them and tie them tighter or looser for a different look. They are also devilishly practical because you can tighten them up right before you dive under a wave to lock it in place.
Up next, see which five swim trends were starting to feel dated (and which five feel fresh).
