There are a few locations in the US that I can visit over and over again. Miami is high on that list and I’m the first to admit I can be a tough critic when it comes to visiting other cities. I have traveled to Miami more than any other city over the past three years and every time I get ready to head down there I’m more excited than the last. It’s an extremely popular travel destination for New Yorkers being that it is only a short flight, you can leave in the morning and be there by lunch.
Some call Miami New York City’s 6th borough as it’s the first place we flee too when the long winters feel never ending our seasonal depression becomes a problem that can only be dealt with with a trip to the beach. That time crept around two weeks ago for me and my friends who love Miami just as much as I do, so we packed our bags and headed to South Beach. This trip I was particularly excited because we we’re all staying at Eden Roc Miami Beach, one of my favorite hotels in Miami. On top of the fact that its absolutely gorgeous it’s super centrally located to everywhere we wanted to go, but the property has a restaurant of it’s own, Ocean Social (where I enjoyed the best brunch and frozen drinks) and of course Nobu Miami is also located there. My friends and I had to stop down for crispy rice and lychee martinis, it was so good I would put that in the running for my death row meal.
Miami for me is all about the fabulous restaurants and beach clubs, don’t worry we got in a trip to Nikki Beach and Carbone. But what’s most important, what I’m going to wear. The thing about Miami is it’s kind of an “anything goes’ type of attitude when it comes to style but there’s definitely an emphasis on upping the sexy and having a little fun with it. For one of my looks I chose a mermaid-core inspired green and blue dress from Retrofete that gained me so many compliments and felt so Miami to me. While drinking rum punch and eating sushi on a daybed at Nikki Beach I sported a cream three piece swim look from Monday Swimwear and a sun hat from Brixton, which not to brag was also a big hit.
